10 For 10: The top girls lacrosse players and teams

The celebration of the last decade continues this week with a look at some of the top girls lacrosse players and teams that we’ve covered here since 2010.

Over the last decade, there has been a little bit more parity on the girls side of the sport in terms of championship teams. While there have only been 11 teams winning the 30 titles on the boys side, there have been 16 teams taking home one of the 30 girls championships since 2010. No team has won more than five titles (Portsmouth), while two programs – Bishop Guertin and Windham – won championships in different divisions.

The following are the top boys lacrosse players and team I’ve covered for this website over the last 10 years, with players listed in alphabetical order and the teams listed chronologically.

Top Players

• Caroline Boudreau, Bishop Guertin (2014-16): Boudreau was a two-time all-state selection and a two-time All-American for the Cardinals. As a junior, she helped Bishop Guertin win the Division I title in its first year playing up in the division. Boudreau continued playing at Winthrop University.
• Mickenzie Larivee, Souhegan (2011-14): Larivee was a two-time All-American and was a four-time all-state selection. She helped lead the Sabers to three consecutive Division I championship game appearances. A three-sport athlete at Souhegan, Larivee helped the girls basketball team to back-to-back championships. Larivee continued playing at Boston University before transferring to the University of New Hampshire.
• Lauren Lisauskas, Pinkerton (2017-2020): A two-time all-state selection and a two-time All-American, Lisauskas helped the Astros reach the Division I championship game last year as a junior. She also recorded 111 points for Pinkerton, including 73 goals. Lisauskas has committed to play at Georgetown University.
• Hannah McCarthy, Bedford (2016-19): A two-time All-American, McCarthy broke the state record for career goals during her senior year, snapping the mark of 342 set by Bedford’s Drew Shapiro. She helped lead the Bulldogs to the Division I championship game as a sophomore and junior. Is currently in her freshman year playing for Elon University.
• Maggie McCarthy, Pinkerton (2012-15): McCarthy was a two-time All-American for the Astros and helped them win back-to-back Division I titles her sophomore and junior seasons. She graduated from Pinkerton as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 247 goals, and also held the single-season record for goals with 77. McCarthy continued playing at the University of Delaware.
• Maddie McCorkle, Hanover (2017-2020): McCorkle has been an all-state selection in her first three years for the Marauders and was also an All-American in 2019. She had 72 points for Hanover as a junior and enters her senior year third in career goals and second in points in program history. McCorkle has committed to play at Duke University.
• Emily Pollard, Merrimack (2009-2012): A three-sport athlete for the Tomahawks, Pollard was an All-American as a senior in 2012, helping lead Merrimack to its only title, as the Tomahawks went 17-1 and won the Division II title. Pollard continued playing at the University of Delaware.
• Hannah Seibel, Hanover (2011-14): A four-year varsity player for Hanover, Seibel was a two-time All-American. She graduated as the single-season record holder with 142 points for the Marauders. Seibel continued playing at Georgetown University.
• Drew Shapiro, Bedford (2011-14): Graduated as the all-time leader in goals in the state with 342, including scoring 125 as a senior. Also had 101 career assists for the Bulldogs, as Shapiro was an all-state selection all four years. Helped lead Bedford to the Division II title in 2014. Shapiro continued her playing career at Hofstra University.
• Jennifer Thompson, Londonderry (2009-2012): Helped lead the Lancers to three consecutive Division I championships, which included a 52-game winning streak against New Hampshire opponents. Thompson was also a two-time All-American and received all-state honors three times. She continued playing at Boston University.

Top Teams

• 2010 Hollis Brookline: The Cavaliers went 30-0 over two seasons, winning their second straight Division III championship. HB averaged more than 15 goals per game during the regular season and was stout defensively behind All-American goalie Lorin Field.
• 2011 Londonderry: The Lancers capped off a 52-game in-state winning streak with their Division I championship in a row, holding off Concord late for a 10-9 victory in the final.
• 2012 Concord: After coming up short in the final the year before, the Crimson Tide got back to the final, going 18-0 to win the Division I championship. Concord averaged 14.7 goals per game during the playoffs.
• 2012 Merrimack: Behind All-Americans Emily Pollard and Lauren Perry, the Tomahawks went 17-1 and won the program’s only title in Division II. Merrimack need a four-goal rally in the final five minutes of the semifinals to beat Bedford before knocking off Bishop Guertin to win the title.
• 2014 Pinkerton: The second of two straight Division I championship teams, the Astros had five players named to the all-state first-team. Pinkerton compiled a record of 18-3 and was 35-7 over the two championship seasons.
• 2014 Souhegan: The best girls team to not win a championship, the Sabers reached the Division I final for the third year in a row, coming up short against Pinkerton for the second straight time. Souhegan had five players who went on to play at the Division I level in college – Mickenzie Larivee, Madison Learned, Jocelyn Donohue, Jesse Jay and Taylor Behn.
• 2017 Portsmouth: The first of three consecutive Division II championship teams for the Clippers, this team finished 19-2, with its only losses against Division I teams Souhegan and Pinkerton. Portsmouth averaged 15.8 goals per game on its way to the title.
• 2019 Bishop Guertin: The Cardinals won their second Division I title in a row and third in the five years since moving up. Bishop Guertin had a great mix of experienced seniors and juniors, and talented freshmen and sophomores, scoring over three hundred goals on the season, with its two losses by a combined four goals.
