Around the Granite State: Friday’s Roundup
The Bishop Guertin High School girls volleyball team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 3-0 win over Alvirne on Friday. Scores were 25-16, 25-14 and 25-21.
Julia Pascucci led the Cardinals (7-1) with 17 assists, seven kills, five aces and five digs and Mariana Gomez had 12 kills and eight digs. Paola Matos had 15 digs and four aces.
The win came after Bishop Guertin fell to Salem, 3-1, on Thursday, by scores of 25-21, 25-16, 19-25 and 25-19. In the loss, Pascucci had 14 digs, 10 assists and five kills while Gomez added 22 digs and five kills.
Hollis Brookline 3, Manchester Central 0
The Cavaliers improved to 7-0 in Division I with a sweep of the Little Green. Scores were 25-3, 25-10 and 25-9.
Ellie Jordan had 10 aces for HB while Kaleigh Whalen had five aces, four kills and a block and Natalie Cook added six kills. Maren Anderson had four aces and two kills and Kenzie Powers also had 11 assists.
The Cavs will host Bishop Guertin on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Inter-Lakes 3, Moultonborough 0
The Lakers finished off a perfect week with a sweep of the Panthers. Score were 25-21, 25-17 and 27-25.
Jessalyn Brown had 20 assists, 12 digs and three kills for Inter-Lakes (6-0) while Morgan White added seven kills, six points and six digs. Hailey Hart recorded 14 points, eight digs and two kills and Emma Wheeler eight kills and had a block while Sarah Seeley chipped in with 11 digs and 10 points.
Epping 4, Mascenic 1
The Blue Devils evened their record at 3-3 with a win over the Vikings. Scores were 25-21, 25-11, 20-25 and 25-22.
Anna Re led Epping with 12 kills, 10 digs, six aces and a block while Hayley Pelletier added 10 kills, three digs and an ace. Marissa Adam had 13 digs, six kills and three aces and Oakley Lustenberger recorded 32 assists, four digs, two kills and an ace.
Laconia 3, ConVal 0
The Cougars came up short against the Sachems, falling by scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-17.
Riley Codman and Molly Cole had four kills each for ConVal while Mary Grossi and Jaylyn Desrosiers had six digs apiece. Joanna Adams added 10 assists and Cole also had four blocks.
Portsmouth Christian 3, Pittsfield 1
The Eagles improved to 4-1 with a win over the Panthers on Thursday. Scores were 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-20.
Alicia O’Neil had 10 aces and nine kills and Kendra Leavitt added 12 kills, 11 digs and four aces to lead PCA. Cayleigh MacLeod had 31 assists, 10 digs and three aces while Juhi Gupta had 16 digs and Hannah Abraham added 11.
Football
Bedford 63, Spaulding 24
The Bulldogs bounced back from their first loss with a road win over the Red Raiders.
Demetri Anagnost led the Bedford rushing attack with 119 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Thomas Norfleet added 52 yards and two scores.
Thomas Morgan was 11 of 15 passing for 175 and three touchdowns, two to Lucien Mumpini, who had six catches for 126 yards. Noah Chaberek also had a 7-yard touchdown catch.
Bedford will host Exeter at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 30.
Boys Soccer
Souhegan 1, Pelham 0 (2OT)
Jacob Hopfenspirger scored in the 91st minute to give the Sabers a double-overtime win against the Pythons.
Montague Jones got the assist on the lone goal and Matt Greany made five saves for Souhegan (6-2).
Sean Gellar made 11 saves for Pelham (1-4-3).
