Around the Granite State: Friday’s Roundup

GOFFSTOWN – The Goffstown High School softball team used a little small ball to break a tie Friday with John Stark and added some insurance on a big hit.

Makayla Fleming broke a 1-1 tie when she scored on a bunt by Olivia St. Jean in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Megan Purcell gave the Grizzlies some breathing room by crushing a two-run double off the center field fence one batter later. The Generals were able to get a run back, but Goffstown held on for a 4-2 win.

Haley Philibotte drove in two runs for John Stark (1-3) while Delani Dowst struck out 10 in the loss.
