Around the Granite State: Monday’s Roundup

Parker McQuarrie scored in overtime to give the John Stark High School boys lacrosse team an 8-7 win over Goffstown in Division II action on Monday.

Down two going into the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies (1-5) rallied with four goals to send the game to the extra session, but the Generals (2-3) picked up the win. Aiden Moser led the way for John Stark with three goals, while Drew McQuarrie had six assists, including one on the game-winner.

Matt Bennetter also had two goals while Kayden Easter and Jack Baumann each had a goal apiece. Guiseppe Brown made 12 saves.

Devin Young led Goffstown with three goals and Peyton Bickford had a goal and three assists and won 11 of 17 faceoffs. Nick Mason had a goal and an assist and Max Lajeunesse also scored. Finn Grant made nine saves.

Pinkerton 7, Bishop Guertin 5

The Astros didn’t give up a goal in the first half and kept the ball away from the Cardinals to hang on for the win.

Chad Teresky had two goals and an assist while Tom Sweeney and Mason Drouin each had two goals for Pinkerton (9-0). Ryan Auger also had a goal and two assists while Alex Sturgess made 12 saves, 11 of which came in the first half.

Brian Cameron led Bishop Guertin (6-1) with two goals and an assist while Drew Hailey, Jonny Bruno and Brennan McInnis also had a goal each. Collin Casey made 16 saves for the Cardinals.

Hollis Brookline 16, Alvirne 4

Will Crosby scored seven goals and added two assists to lift the Cavaliers past the Broncos.

Derek Davidson also had three goals and an assist and Jack Aldana-Proulx had nine ground balls for HB (3-2).

Nashua South 19, Manchester Central 3

Zac Clancy scored six goals and had three assists and the Panthers beat the Little Green to pick up their second win of the season.

Joe Bodi added four goals and two assists while Sean Holland had two goals and four helpers. Devin Linscott (assist), Tyler Bernard, Shane Puleo and Jordan Bodwell scored two goals apiece.

Jaiden Dupont also had a goal and an assist Tony Agor tallied an assist for South (2-6). Nate Radin and Suman Morrissette combined to make six saves.

Milford 7, Coe Brown 5

Gavin Urda scored four goals and had an assist to lead the Spartans to a win over the Bears.

Urda also had seven ground balls while Ben Noble had two goals and Owen Clary had a goal and an assist. Owen Hutchinson added an assist and five ground balls.

Tim Gagnon made eight saves while Matt Hannon had six ground balls and Josh Shaw and Mikey Federico played well defensively.

Souhegan 15, Salem 3

The Sabers snapped a two-game skid with a big win over the Blue Devils, getting goals from nine different players, including a team-high four from Nick Jordan.

Thomas Hornor added two goals and two assists while Ethan Hopey and Nate Chamberlin had two goals apiece. Luke Civiello had a goal and two assists while Foster Burnley (seven ground balls), Finley Morgan (six ground balls), Nick Garcia and Drew Pollio had a goal each.

Alex Burnley made 15 saves and John Lohnes had two for Souhegan (4-2) while Palmer Belowski, Jack Manning, Justin Ward and Sam Ezequelle also played well.

St. Thomas 13, Oyster River 11

Jojo Grella scored five goals and assisted on another as the Saints held off the Bobcats.

Andrew Geppert added two goals and four assists for St. Thomas (4-2) and Aidan Crisp had two goals and an assist. Patrick Vetter chipped in with a goal and two assists while Tim Bouchard, Will Kaspari and Zach Masse had a goal each.

Nick Johnson won 16 out of 19 faceoffs, and as a team, the Saints won 23 of 27.

Plymouth 11, Pelham 4

The Bobcats handed the Pythons their first loss of the season in Division III.

Pelham got a goal each from Shawn McAdam, Ian Morgenstern, Riley Nutter and Fred Stamatatos. Mitchell Rufiange made 10 saves for the Pythons and Joe Katin made 12.

Baseball

Bedford 12, Trinity 1

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the third and five in the fourth to break open a close game with the Pioneers. Nine batters had a hit, led by Cooper Anibal, who had three and drove in four runs.

Spencer Adams had a pinch-hit home run in the fifth and Manny Ray his second win by allowing two hits and striking out four in five innings. Evan Schwartz and Tim Saltzman each pitched an inning in relief for Bedford.

Boys Volleyball

Hollis Brookline 3, Coe-Brown 0

The Cavaliers improved to 4-2 on the season with a sweep of the Bears. Game scores were 25-14, 25-22 and 25-17.

Jonathan Brackett led the way for HB with nine kills, seven digs and five aces while Colton Mailloux had four blocks and Marshall Coutu had three. Felix Yang added two aces.
