Around the Granite State: Monday’s Roundup
The Hollis Brookline High School girls volleyball team picked up its fifth win of the season with a sweep of Winnacunnet. Scores were 25-12, 25-14 and 25-16.
Kaleigh Whalen led the Cavaliers (5-0) with five kills while Natalie Cook and Ashley Burtt had three kills apiece. Kenzie Powers chipped in with 18 assists.
HB plays at Goffstown on Wednesday.
Nashua South 3, Exeter 2
The Panthers went on the road and pulled out a win over the Blue Hawks. Scores were 25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 18-25 and 15-8.
Sydney Johnson had 21 kills and 15 digs in the match while Erin Kelly added nine kills and three blocks. Kelsey Peirce also had 28 digs and two aces for Exeter (3-3), which hosts Salem on Tuesday.
Bishop Guertin 3, Timberlane 0
The Cardinals improved to 5-0 in Division I with a sweep of the Owls. Scores were 25-14, 25-9 and 25-21.
Julia Pascucci had 14 assists and five aces for Bishop Guertin and Rita Dow added nine kills. Mariana Gomez recorded 14 digs, five aces and three kills while Neena Vassil had four kills and two aces.
Alvirne 3, Manchester Memorial 2
The Broncos rallied from down 2-0 to knock off the Crusaders. Scores were 21-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-15 and 15-10.
Liz DeRosa had 30 kills and 11 service points for the Broncos, while Morgan Smith had 40 assists and 10 service points. Cynnaea Clay added 17 digs and eight service points and Emily Elston had seven kills.
Souhegan 3, ConVal 1
The Cougars kept it close against the Sabers through two games, but fell to Souhegan in Division II action. Scores were 27-25, 24-26, 25-11 and 25-15.
Jaylyn Desrosiers led ConVal with five kills, two assists and an ace, while Joanna Adam had 10 assists, eight aces and eight digs. Riley Codman added four kills and three blocks and Michele Hartwell had 13 digs.
Inter-Lakes 3, Prospect Mountain 0
The Lakers moved to 4-0 in Division III with a sweep of the Timberwolves. Scores were 25-9, 25-16 and 25-18.
Jessalyn Brown had a big game for Inter-Lakes, recording 21 assists, 13 service points and eight digs. Emma Wheeler chipped in with 14 digs, 13 service points, six kills, five aces and three blocks.
Morgan White had seven digs and five kills for the Lakers, while Hailey Hart had six kills, six digs and six service points and Sarah Seeley chipped in with 12 digs and four service points. All 14 players played for Inter-Lakes, with eight recording kills and seven getting service points.
Farmington 3, Epping 1
The Blue Devils fell at home to the Tigers in four games. Scores were 25-22, 19-25, 25-22 and 25-20.
Gabi Hughes led Epping with 49 digs, seven kills, three aces and one assist while Anna Re had 32 digs, nine kills, two aces and a block. Oakley Lustenberger added 25 assists, nine digs and one kill.
Field Hockey
Bishop Guertin 2, Merrimack 0
Lindsay Hult scored her first varsity goal and it proved to be the game-winner as the Cardinals blanked the Tomahawks.
Hult, a freshman, scored six minutes into the game off a penalty corner, with McKenna Gosselin getting the assist. Gosselin gave the Cardinals a cushion with three minutes left in the game, scoring off an assist from Sarah Coyle.
Makena Leazer made seven saves for Bishop Guertin, while Merrimack’s Heather Rorh stopped 16 shots.
