NASHUA – The Bishop Guertin High School girls lacrosse team pulled away late in the first half from Nashua North and cruised in the second to an 18-8 win over the Titans.

Olivia Koutsos led the way for the Cardinals (2-0) with five goals and four assists while Kate Bradford added four goals and an assist. Emily Santom chipped in with three goals and three assists and Katie Lupo had two goals and two assists.

Kayli Keenan, Kennedy Wright, Claire Donovan and Ashlie Killen also had a goal each while Grace Young made three saves.

North (1-1) got four goals from Danielle Upton while Campbell Haller added two goals and Kayle Hubbard and Delia Blondeau had a goal apiece. Hannah Fortin recorded an assist and Zoe Fillebrown made five saves.

Boys Lacrosse

Nashua North 17, Merrimack 9

The Titans jumped out to an early lead and pulled away in the third quarter, as Joey Paige scored seven goals and had an assist.

Todd Redman added three goals and four assists and Troy Bottari also had three goals with two assists for North (1-1). Brendan Martin scored two goals and had an assist while Griffin Masseur and Brian Nguyen chipped in with a goal apiece.

Alec Juknievich had an assist for the Titans and James Petz and Max Wright combined to make eight saves.

Merrimack (0-2) got two goals and an assist from John Tiano and Alex Bronchuck added a goal and an assist. Jay Lanigan, Ben Eichman, TJ Fasano, Jordan Petrocelli and Colin Wandell had a goal each while Garrett Murray made six saves.

Bishop Guertin 19, Hanover 4

The Cardinals jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as they picked up a win in their season opener. Brian Cameron led the way with three goals and six assists while Jordan Caito added three goals and John Bruno had two goals and three assists.

Drew Hailey chipped in with two goals and an assist and Brennan McInnins had a goal and an assist. Sean Cameron (assist), Joe Lupo, TJ Quigley, Alex Bozek, Austin King, Nick Hughes and Will Lathram also had a goal apiece, and Ben Albladian had an assist.

Colin Casey, James Heitmiller and Kameron Bouvier combined to make eight saves while King, Zack Keenan and Jack Johansen combined to win 14 of 23 faceoffs.

Graham Penfield led Hanover (1-1) with two goals while Jake Acker and Reed Winter added a goal apiece. Joe Warhold and Mason Winter combined to make 14 saves for the Marauders.

“This was a great early-season test and showed us the yardstick by which the top teams in the state are measured,” Hanover coach Ryan Gardner said. “Owen Brooks and Alex Mosenthal played tough between the lines, but their quickness and depth were too much for us.”

Milford 13, Campbell 12 (OT)

Cam O’Shaughnessy scored fours goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to give the Spartans a win in their first game back in Division III.

O’Shaughnessy also had an assist and Gavin Urda also had four goals and a helper, while Collin Cederberg scored twice for Milford. Maverick Dodier had a goal and an assist and Josh Shaw assisted on a goal by Owen Clary in the final seconds to send the game to overtime.

Tim Gagnon made 12 saves and Jaxson Mims and Matt Hannon played well defensively.

Bedford 17, Manchester Central 1

Jack Cusack scored five goals and Brandon Howe added four goals and an assist as the Bulldogs (2-0) picked up their second win.

Sam Gregson and Zach Edwards each had two goals and an assist for Bedford, while Devin LaFrance, Stewart Kirkpatrick, Ryan Toscano and Steve Simpson had a goal apiece.

Sean Tierney and Luke Boll each made three saves and Kyle Lagerquist won 21 of 22 faceoffs.

Baseball

Souhegan 7, ConVal 4

The Sabers opened their Division II title defense with a back-and-forth win over the Cougars, rallying from three runs down in the fifth to get the win.

Jacob Grassett pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief to get the win, allowing a hit and two walks with a strikeout. Tucker Aiello pitched a perfect seventh inning to get the save.

Bryce Reagan started the Souhegan rally in the fifth with a double and Owen Batchelder followed with a walk. Three straight RBI singles by Alec Burns, Max Benevides and Ryan Hill tied the game at 4, and Aiello walked to load the bases with no one out.

Benevides scored on a groundout by Daniel Trzepacz to give the Sabers the lead and Matt Zifchak followed with a two-run single.

Bedford 9, Dover 3

Bedford broke open a close game with five runs in the fifth inning to pick up its first win of the season.

Grant Lavigne led the Bulldogs (1-0), going 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, while Connor Zendzian and Liam Greene (double) each had two hits.

Joseph Quintal got the win, as he went four innings and allowed two runs, and Geoff Mousseau and Nick Gelinas pitched well in relief.

Softball

Bedford 4, Dover 2

Katie Martin struck out 13 and Bedford picked up a win in its first game of the season.

Erin Murphy went 2 for 3 with two runs scored to lead the Bulldogs (1-0) offense, while Jacque Harrington doubled and scored, Maddie Lucontoni had a single and run scored, and Shanna Scribner (single) and Audrey Pederson had drove in a run.

A defensive play by catcher Kyle Dimond helped Bedford preserve the lead in the top of the fourth. With two outs and runners on first and third, Dover’s Anna Chagnon took off for second, but Dimond faked the throw and went to third, where Murphy caught Grace Hallett too far off the base.

Abby Ekcer pitched well for Dover, striking out five.
