Around the Granite State: Tuesday’s roundup

The Alvirne High School baseball team picked up an 11-3 win over Trinity on Tuesday behind a solid pitching performance from Dan Brown.

Brown went 5 1/3 innings, striking out six, while Matt McKinley had three hits and drove in three runs for the Broncos (7-2). Brown and Jacen Hudson also drove in a pair of runs for Alvirne.

Baseball: Bedford 3, Bishop Guertin 2 (9 innings)

The Bulldogs (7-2) won their sixth game in a row by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game and then won it in the ninth on an RBI single by Connor Collins.

Connor Lee picked up the win in relief, going three innings while allowing one hit and striking out two. Geoff Mosseau started and went six innings, giving up two unearned runs and two hits with six strikeouts.

Matt Gilligan led off the ninth with a double and scored the winning run on Collins’ hit.

Boys Volleyball: Hollis Brookline 3, Coe-Brown 0

The Cavaliers improved to 6-1 on Monday, beating Coe-Brown 25-11, 25-10 and 25-17.

Tucker McIlwrath had 11 kills and five blocks for HB while Jacob McGettigan had six aces. Nathan Cole had three aces and six digs and Nathan Thomas chipped in with 14 digs.

Boys Tennis: Windham 5, Souhegan 4

The Jaguars swept the doubles matches to rally for a win over the Sabers in Division II action.

Jay Giles and Marc Tausanovicth won the No. 1 doubles match, while Matt Ryan and Henry Monterio took the win at No. 2 and Isaac and Anthony Hashem were victorious at No. 3 to clinch the match for Windham (5-3).

Ryan also won the No. 3 singles match, while Isaac Hashem was the winner at No. 5.

Souhegan (2-2) got wins from Matt Lapsley (No. 1), Kyle Gibson (No. 2), Nick Durling (No. 4) and Dale Estes (No. 6).

Girls Tennis: Bedford 9, Londonderry 0

The Bulldogs swept the Lancers in a Division I match to improve to 7-0 on the season.

Anli Zhang (No. 1) and Abby Ramsay (No. 2) both won their singles matches, 8-0, and teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-0. Other singles winners for the Bulldogs included Grace Goyette (No. 3), Maylene LaPress (No. 4), Caroline Herz (No. 5) and Erin Stearns (No. 6).

Goyette and LaPress also won the No. 2 doubles match and Herz and Stearns were winners at No. 3.
