Around the Granite State: Wednesday’s Roundup

The Epping High School girls volleyball team battled back from a first-game loss to knock of Nute 3-1 in Division III action. Scores were 29-31, 25-7, 25-18 and 25-21.

Anna Re led the Blue Devils (2-3) with 11 kills, nine digs, five aces and four blocks, and Marissa Adams had 16 digs, nine aces and one kill. Hayley Pelletier chipped in with 10 kills and two digs and Belle Snyder had 17 digs, two kills and two blocks.

Inter-Lakes 3, Mascoma Valley 0

The Lakers moved to 5-0 in Division III with a sweep of the Royals, as all 14 players got in for Inter-Lakes and 10 recorded kills.

Aria Shufelt led the way for the Lakers with five kills, four service points, two aces and a block. Emma Wheeler added 15 service points and nine aces and Devyn Vaal chipped in with eight service points, three digs and a kill.

Jordan Durand was perfect from the service line with 12 points and Catie Leberman had four service points and four assists.

Hollis Brookline 3, Goffstown 0

The Cavaliers improved to 6-0 in Division I with a sweep of Goffstown. Scores were 25-9, 25-14 and 25-15.

Maddie Norris had eight kills for HB while Kaleigh Whalen added six kills and Natalie Cook chipped in with four kills and five blocks. Kyra Belden had 19 assists and eight digs for the Cavs and Sammie Sheppard recorded eight digs.

Goffstown (1-7) got six digs and two aces from Justin Watterson.

Alvirne 3, Merrimack 1

The Broncos picked up their second win in a row, and third in the last four, with a win over the Tomahawks. Scores were 25-21, 25-23, 23-25 and 28-26.

Liz DeRosa had 20 kills and nine digs for Alvirne (3-4) while Cynnaea Clay had 12 digs and Morgan Smith added 31 assists.

Milford 3, ConVal 0

The Cougars fell on the road to the Spartans in Division II action. Scores were 25-15, 25-13 and 25-13.

Riley Codman had five blocks and four kills for ConVal and Emma Golden added four kills. Molly Cole had three kills, two aces and a block while Joanna Adam chipped in with nine assists and seven digs. Mary Grossi had nine digs and Michele Hartwell added five digs.

Field Hockey

Bishop Guertin 4, Nashua North 1

The Cardinals scored three goals late in the first half to take control and held off the Titans in the second half.

Sarah Coyle, Grace Goyette and Katie Lupo each had a goal in the final 12 minutes of the opening half, and Bonnie Gillis scored in the second half. McKenna Gosselin added an assist for Bishop Guertin (7-0).

Caroline Carey, Britney Pearson, Athanasia Theofilopoulos and Emily Foltan played well defensively for the Cardinals and goalie Makena Leazer made three saves.

Stella Liakakos had the lone goal for North, giving the Titans a 1-0 lead two minutes into the game, and goalie Zoe Fillebrown finished with 15 saves.
