Around the Granite State: Wednesday’s roundup
The softball teams from Hollis Brookline and Souhegan high schools played an extra-inning game Wednesday, with the Sabers rallying for a 6-5 win over the Cavaliers.
HB took the lead with a four-run second inning, but Souhegan came back to tie it and force extra innings.
Cassidy Pigott took the loss for the Cavs, recording five strikeouts while going 2 for 5 at the plate. Avery Webb and Natalie Paquin each had an RBI for HB.
Boys Tennis: Oyster River 7, Souhegan 2
The Bobcats improved to 5-0 on the season by taking five of six singles matches. Henry Bulkley (No. 1), Justin Stevens (No. 3), Porter McManus (No. 4), Shane Chinborg (No. 5) and Ryan Coxen (No. 6) each recorded a win for Oyster River.
Bulkley and Colin Runk won the No. 1 doubles match and McManus and Chinborg picked up a win at No. 3.
Nathaniel Kershlis got the win at No. 2 singles for Souhegan (2-1), and teamed up with Kyle Gibson to win the No. 2 doubles match.
