Around the Granite State: Bedford boys basketball moves on with win against Windham
Here are results from Saturday’s high school basketball playoff action.
BEDFORD – Logan O’Connell scored 23 points to help lead the top-seeded Bedford High School boys basketball team to a 66-59 win Saturday night over No. 9 Windham in the Division I quarterfinals.
O’Connell hit two 3-pointers and was 9 of 14 at the free throw line while Landon Ellsmore and Connor O’Rourke each added 17 points, shooting a combined 12 of 16 at the line. As a team, the Bulldogs (16-3) were 25 of 36 on free throws.
Windham (11-9) got 27 points from Jack Koutrobis while John Murphy was also in double figures with 13 points.
The win puts Bedford in the semifinals for the third year in a row, where the Bulldogs will face No. 5 Exeter, which defeated No. 4 Nashua South 60-44, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rochester Rec Center.
Girls Basketball
D2 Quarterfinals: No. 4 Oyster River 66, No. 5 Pembroke 48
The Bobcats set a state record with 15 3-pointers on their way to a win over the Spartans.
Vivian O’Quinn led Oyster River (16-4) with 26 points and Wren Horne added 16 points. Caitlin Klein and Olivia Andersen each finished with 10 points and Ashling Ferris scored four markers.
The Bobcats move on to the semifinals, where they will face No. 1 Laconia, which defeated No. 8 Pelham 61-48, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pinkerton Academy.
D2 Quarterfinals: No. 2 Milford 55, No. 10 Coe-Brown 42
The Spartans advanced to the semifinals for the first time since 2015 with a win over the Bears.
Shea Hansen finished with 14 points for Milford (16-3) and Avery Fuller finished with 12 points. Lulu Maguire and Claire Cote each had nine markers in the win.
Coe-Brown (9-11) got 19 points from Hannah Meehan and nine points from Jennifer Noni.
Milford will face No. 3 Derryfield, which beat No. 6 Merrimack Valley 50-45 in overtime, in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Pinkerton Academy.
