Around the Granite State: Bedford boys lacrosse comes back to beat Exeter
Here are results from Wednesday’s high school lacrosse action.
EXETER – Derek Kulesza and Brody Helton scored 21 seconds apart Wednesday to help the Bedford High School boys lacrosse team come back in the final minute for a 12-11 win over Exeter.
Kulesza scored with 36.8 seconds left to tie the game, and after the Bulldogs (10-1, No. 2 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll) won the ensuing faceoff, the Blue Hawks’ Marshall Lasewicz was called for a cross check to the head of Helton.
Bedford wasted little time on the manup, as Sam Barad found Helton cutting in front of the goal for the game-winner with 15 seconds left.
Kulesza finished with five goals and an assist and Helton had two goals and an assist while Barad and Bennett Matthews each scored twice and had three assists. Luke Purnell also had a goal and three assists, including one on the game-tying score, and Ethan Conn had six saves.
Owen Williams led Exeter with five goals and an assist and Lasewicz finished with two scores. Patrick Hathaway, Jackson Greene and Alex Carragan added a goal apiece while Ethan Bernich made 11 saves for Exeter (8-4, No. 4).
Coe-Brown 9, Laconia 6
Sam Frye had five goals to help lead the Bears past the Sachems.
Joe Fenton scored twice and added an assist and Robert Lee also had a goal for C0e-Brown. Ryan Rodler and Myles Brackett each had two assists while Jack Matson led a solid defensive effort with 20 saves.
Dover 16, Nashua South 5
Tobey Desroches had a big game for the Green Wave, scoring six goals to go with two assists, in a win over the Panthers.
Micah Krick added four goals and two assists while Logan Carter had two goals and two assists in his first game back from injury. Lukah Ready, Riley Joyce and Ben Tower each had a goal and an assist.
Silas Brown also scored while Kyle Behan had an assist to go with 10 groundballs and Jackson Bairstow had eight groundballs. Owen Wood was 20 of 26 on faceoffs while Dom Chalifour and Zach Grigg combined to make nine saves.
Campbell 9, Alvirne 8 (2OT)
Andrew Willnus had four goals and two assists as the Cougars knocked off the Broncos in overtime.
Cruz Sandquist added two goals and an assist and Zach Hannah also scored twice. Nate Lencki had a goal and an assist.
Will O’Brien finished with 11 saves and Lucas Craig was 22 of 23 on faceoffs.
Bishop Brady 11, Spaulding 3
Joey Richardson had three goals and three assists as the Giants picked up a road win over the Red Raiders.
Luke Matczyski added three goals and Ben Ambromowich scored twice while Drake Bekkar, Alex King and Luke Jackson added a goal apiece. Jack Devils had six assists while Cam Fortier and Aiden Finn had one each.
Justin Doyle finished with eight saves and Jason Doyle was 15 of 17 on faceoffs.
Girls Lacrosse
No. 10 Nashua South 12, Dover 5
Keira Walsh had five saves to get the win for the Panthers, including the 300th save of her career.
Maren Lowell had three goals and four assists and Ella Benzekri also scored three times and had three assists. Morgan Uzdanovich had three goals and an assist.
Karina O’Donnell scored twice and Saige Devin had a goal and an assist. Audrey Mullaney, Brynn Tefft, Karina Santana and Abby Herlihy played well defensively for South.
Campbell 16, Milford 7
Callie Hoover and Ava Grant each had five goals to lead the Cougars past the Spartans.
Lili Wilson added three goals and an assist while Abby Guerette and Kelsey Wiksins had a pair of assists each. Rania Chuadhry had a 50-percent save percentage on the day.
No. 7 Windham 16, John Stark/Hillsboro-Deering 4
Sophia Ponzini led the Jaguars with five goals and five assists as they picked up the win.
Emma Kendzulak added three goals and Darby Madden had two goals and two assists. Chloe Hall also scored twice and had an assist while Mia Gallinelli had a goal and an assist.
Ella Gallinelli, Sophie Manchester and Casey Dolliver added a goal apiece and Jaidyn Seitzer finished with four saves.
