Around the Granite State: Bedford boys lacrosse overcomes slow start against Westford
Here are results from Saturday’s high school lacrosse results.
WESTFORD, Mass. – The Bedford High School boys lacrosse team scored eight unanswered goals in the second quarter Saturday morning to knock off Westford Academy 17-9.
Bennett Matthews had five goals and two assists to lead the Bulldogs (6-1, No. 3 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll) and Sam Barad had four goals and two assists. Luke Purnell added three goals and two assists and Brody Helton had two goals and four assists.
Kevin Mastrodicasa, Brian Riccio and Sam D’Urso also scored while Derek Kulesza, Dylan Riccio and Kevin Sheridan each had an assist. Ethan Conn finished with 10 saves.
Tommy Rose had five goals for Westford, which led 4-2 after one quarter. Jack Donovan added two goals and an assist.
Westwood (Mass.) 7, No. 4 Derryfield 5
The Cougars dropped their first game of the season, falling on the road to the Wolverines.
Dom Cercone had two goals for Derryfield (7-1) and Alex Murray scored a goal and had two assists. Chili Cabot and John Kramer each had a goal and Cooper Ketcham had an assist.
Logan Purvis was 15 of 16 on faceoffs and Parker Lebiedz finished with 15 saves.
Hingham (Mass.) 8, No. 6 Pinkerton 4
Matt Gormady scored twice, but it wasn’t enough as the Astros fell to the Harbormen.
Adam Scala and Tyler Barry had a goal apiece for Pinkerton (3-5) while Cole Summers recorded an assist. Owen Perkins made 10 saves and Dylan Stingel was 9 of 16 on faceoffs.
