Around the Granite State: Bedford field hockey slips past Pinkerton (video)
Here are results from Wednesday’s high school sports action.
BEDFORD – Teagan O’Donnell scored two goals to help lead the Bedford High School field hockey team to a 3-2 win Wednesday over Pinkerton Academy.
O’Donnell’s second goal with 11:22 remaining in the game proved to be the game-winner and the senior also had an assist. Ella Putney added a goal for the Bulldogs (10-1, No. 1 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll).
Irene Tsai finished with nine saves for Bedford while Molly Kuncik had 12 for Pinkerton (7-4, No. 5).
Cara Murray scored twice for the Astros, with both goals coming in the final 63 seconds of the first half. Cayden Madeiros and Fran Doyle each had an assist.
No. 9 Timberlane 2, No. 2 Londonderry 1
The Owls got the go-ahead goal in the fourth quarter and then held off the Lancers on two penalty corners with no time left on the clock to get the win.
Brooke Salafia scored the game-winner and Rylee O’Connor also scored to tie the game 1-1 in the second quarter for Timberlane (7-4). Kasidee Castro had an assist in the win.
Merrimack 1, Windham 0 (OT)
Josephine Swisher scored in the final minute of overtime to get the Tomahawks a win over the Jaguars.
Jackie Hayes and Kesley Ledoux played well for Merrimack (4-6-1) while Annabelle Cassetty recorded 12 saves.
No. 3 Keene 4, Nashua South 0
The Blackbirds scored all four of their goals off penalty corners to beat the Panthers.
McKenna Nelson, Lola Ballaro, Natalia Gillis and Scarlett Miller each had a goal for Keene (9-1-1). Olive Thatcher added a pair of assists in the win.
Meury Navarette had 14 saves for South (2-10) while Maggie Schmidt, Sofia Forti and Emme Christian also had defensive ssaves.
Wylie Hart and Keegan Dolan also played well for the Panthers.
Plymouth 1, Pembroke 0 (OT)
Trista Strickland scored four minutes into overtime to give the Bobcats the win over the Spartans.
Amelia Avery had an assist on the goal for Plymouth (7-4), who had some good chances on offense during regulation, but couldn’t capitalize.
Salem 1, Goffstown 0
Avery Aliberti scored the game’s only goal on a breakaway in the fourth quarter to lift the Blue Devils past the Grizzlies.
Nathalia Garcia played well in goal to get the shutout for Salem (7-4) and Averie Bolduc had a strong game in the midfield.
No. 6 Oyster River 6, Derryfield 0
The Bobcats bounced back from their first loss by scoring three goals in each half of a win over the Cougars.
Rowynn Pickering, Natalie Buck, Rose Paxton, Eliza Farwell and Maggie Aldous each had goals for Oyster River (10-1) while Pickering, Buck, Aldous and Paxton had assists.
No. 8 Dover 0, Concord 0 (OT)
Scarlett Gray finished with four saves for the Green Wave (7-4-1) as they played to a scoreless tie with the Crimson Tide.
Bow 8, Milford 0
Peyton Vaughn and Ainsley Herrick each had three goals to lead the Falcons past the Spartans.
Vaughn also had three assists and Herrick had one for Bow (10-1-1) while Bro Gravel and Chloe Nowakowski added a goal apiece. Josie Johnson added three assists in the win.
Girls Volleyball
Farmington 3, Portsmouth Christian 2
The Eagles dropped a back-and-forth match to the Tigers by games scores of 25-18, 20-25, 19-25, 25-19 and 15-12.
Bea Monahan had 13 kills, five aces and nine digs while Lexi Jordan added 24 assists and five aces for PCA (2-6). Dylan Anderson had nine kills and three blocks and Caroline Braman recorded seven kills and two blocks.
Marion Spurr finished with 12 digs for the Eagles.
