Around the Granite State: Bedford girls basketball gets win over Exeter

Eva Zink and Juliet Laws each had 19 points Friday night to help lead the Bedford High School girls basketball team to a 71-32 win over Exeter.

The Bulldogs (6-1) led 42-22 at halftime and held the Blue Hawks (5-3) to just 10 points in the second half, snapping Exeter’s five-game win streak.

Sarah Muir added 12 points, including two 3-pointers, for Bedford and Grace Wolf added seven points.

Exeter got 11 points from Nicole Melick while Jessica Melick added six points. Lexy Rogers and May Atlee each had five points for the Blue Hawks.

Timberlane 50, Winnacunnet 41

The Owls beat the Warriors for their fourth win in a row to improve to 6-3 on the season.

Sam Mooney had 22 points to lead Timberlane and Rylee Donahue added 21 points, as the Owls got out to a 26-14 lead at halftime.

Julia Allen led Winnacunnet (1-6) with 10 points.

Portsmouth 44, Manchester Memorial 18

The Clippers picked up their sixth win in a row with a road win over the Crusaders.

Jolie Robichaud had 17 points for Portsmouth (7-1) while Leiana Cory added 10 points and Jenna Luch and Lana Vidacic had five markers apiece.

Memorial (1-7) got six points from Jenavyzia Collazo while Jaelyn Hartford had four points and Taylor Angerami and Kiana Gallego added three points each.

Pelham 61, Souhegan 38

The Pythons got out to a 14-4 lead early and held off the Sabers to pick up the win.

Grace Riley led Pelham (6-1) with 20 points while Kylie Muldoon added 10 points and Tatum Dzierlatka recorded seven points.

Souhegan (5-3) got 11 points from Julia Skelton while Nayaa Dineshkumar had seven points and 11 rebounds and Mariellah Dart added seven markers.

Pembroke 62, Oyster River 25

The Bobcats dropped their second straight, falling on the road against the undefeated Spartans.

Wren Horne led Oyster River (5-3) with 14 points and Ashling Ferris added seven points.

Keene 41, Salem 38

The Blue Devils got off to a slow start on the road to drop their second in a row.

Morgann Raskow scored a career-high 21 points for Salem (5-2).

Monadnock 39, Kearsarge 30

Brooklyn Kidney scored 14 points to help the Huskies (7-1) to their fifth win in a row while the Cougars (7-3) lost for the first time in their last seven.

Marlee Carroll-Clough also had 10 points for Monadnock in the win.

Winnisquam 71, Newfound 42

The Bears picked up their first win of the season, beating the Bears behind a 41-point effort from Caidyn Carter.

Newfound got eight points from Bailey Dow.

Boys Basketball

Keene 69, Salem 59

Alex Holmes scored 36 points to help lead the Blackbirds to a win over the Blue Devils.

Jamal Stanley added 19 points and Kasen Abbott had 11 markers for Keene (5-3).

Souhegan 54, Pelham 45

The Sabers moved to 5-3 on the season with a win over the Pythons.

Weston Hickman had 19 points, 13 in the second half, to lead Souhegan, which as alternated wins and losses for seven straight games. Pelham (5-3) got 18 points from Brady O’Conner, as it had a five-game win streak come to an end.

Boys Ice Hockey

Keene 4, Rice Memorial 2

Zade Trybulski scored twice to help the Blackbirds to a win over the Green Knights, from Burlington, Vt.

Griffin Erickson added a goal and an assist for Keene while Landon Clace also scored. Grady Erickson, Donovan Ladzinski, Ethan Ahnert and Jack Quarry also had assists in the win.

Swimming

Blackbirds take 2nd

The Keene boys and girls swim team each finished second in a nine-team meet, their final home one of the season.

For the boys, Windham (333 points) finished first, head of the Blackbirds (252) while Laconia (55) was third. The Windham girls (479) also came in first, with Keene (169) second and Gilford (140) third.

Conrad Smith led the Keene boys with first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke while Andrew O’Donnell was first in the 100 butterfly and Dominic Smith came in first in the 100 breaststroke.

The Keene girls got a fourth-place finish from Andreea Rusu in the 50 freestyle, while Olivia Cutler was sixth in the same event.

Bryanna Mattson, from ConVal, came in second in the 100 freestyle and the 200 IM, qualifying for the state meet in both events.

For Monadnock, Emma Short took second in the breaststroke and Sawyer Condap came in second in the 100 backstroke.

Fall Mountain’s Avery Richardson won the 500 freestyle and qualified for the state meet.
