Around the Granite State: Bedford girls basketball rolls in 3rd quarter (video)
Here are results from the weekend’s high school sports action.
BEDFORD – The Bedford High School girls basketball team opened the third quarter with a run to break open a close game Saturday on the way to a 54-27 win over Walpole (Mass.).
Sarah Muir had 16 points to lead the Bulldogs (4-0) while Annie Zink had 12 points and Kate Allard finished with seven. Mel McCarthy and Eva Zink each chipped in with six points.
The Timberwolves (5-3) got nine points from Bella Bingham while Tori Adams scored seven points and Emily Mulgrew had five points.
Bedford jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first three-plus minutes, but Walpole responded with a 12-6 run to end the first quarter down 16-14.
The Bulldogs took a 27-20 lead into halftime, and after a Timberwolves basket to open the third, Bedford scored 10 straight points to take a 37-22 lead. Overall, the Bulldogs outscored Walpole 21-5 in the quarter to break open the game.
Boys Ice Hockey
Salem 4, Keene 3 (OT)
Gavin Doughty scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lift the Blue Devils past the Blackbirds.
Cam Chase added a goal and an assist for Salem and Ethan Ross also scored. Max Condone, Elliot Chisholm and Tyler Pizzano each had an assist and goalie Thomas Griffin made 29 saves.
Keene, which took a 2-0 lead early, got a goal and an assist from Evan Ahnert while Andrew Robichaud and Nick Dunnell also scored, with Dunnell’s goal forcing overtime.
Chris Truman, Gunner Gallant and Ethan Ahnert had an assist apiece and goalie Trenton Hill made 28 saves.
