ANDOVER, Mass. – The Bishop Guertin High School boys lacrosse team fell in its season opener Tuesday against St. John’s Prep, 13-5, in a game played at Merrimack College’s Duane Stadium.

Cam Hayden had two goals for the Cardinals (0-1, No. 1 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Boys Lacrosse Coaches Poll) and Michael Ponto, Beau Dubois and Sean McGarry had a goal apiece. Jonah Feliciano finished with six saves for the Cardinals.

The Eagles (6-0), from Danvers, Mass., got two goals apiece from Cam McCarthy and Ryan McCarthy while Luke Kelly had a goal and an assist.

The game was tied 4-4 for most of the second quarter, but St. John’s Prep went on a 3-0 run in the final 3:08 of the first half to take a 7-4 lead into halftime. The run continued in the second half, as two more goals in the first four minutes of the third made it 9-4.

It was an 11-4 lead for the Eagles going into the fourth quarter and the Cardinals broke their scoreless run in the final minute of the game.

Laconia 13, John Stark 1

The Sachems made it two wins in two days, getting a victory over the Generals.

Brady Stevens had six goals and an assist to lead Laconia while Paul Ganchi had four goals and Eli Nadeau had two scored and three helpers.

Rock Londer added a goal and Chris Amato had an assist in the win.

Cam Chaw had the lone goal for John Stark with Cooper Twombly picking up an assist.
