Around the Granite State: Bow, Souhegan field hockey end in a tie (video)
Here are results from Friday’s high school sports action.
AMHERST – The Bow and Souhegan high school field hockey teams battled for 70 minutes and came out with a 2-2 Friday.
The Falcons (12-1-2) took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter and were up 2-1 going into the fourth quarter. Peyton Vaughn had a goal and an assist while Vita Flagg also scored and Shire Kelley added an assist.
Ella Russell and Mariellah Dart each had a goal for the Sabers (12-1-1).
Mascoma Valley 1, Kearsarge 0
Sophia Smith scored the game’s only goal to help the Royals beat the Cougars and pick up their 10th win of the season.
Morgan Fitts and Tory Petty also played well for Mascoma Valley (10-2-1) in the win.
Mascoma Valley 2, Bishop Brady 0 (Thursday)
Makenna Houston and Sophia Smith each had a goal for the Royals in a win over the Giants.
Goalie Samantha Harkins led the way on defense for Mascoma Valley.
No. 8 Oyster River 4, No. 10 John Stark 4 (OT)
The Bobcats got out to a 4-1 lead in the first half but the Generals came back to tie it and neither team could break through in overtime.
Rose Paxton had two goals for Oyster River (11-2-1) while Eva Barth Malone and Sadie McLeod added a goal apiece.
Ava Friberg scored a goal and had an assist on the game-tying goal by Zoe Lawson for John Stark (11-1-2). Kaitlin Dennis and Claudia Dustin also scored and Addie DeCew added an assist.
Girls Volleyball
Winnacunnet 3, Hollis Brookline 2
The Cavaliers battled with the Warriors but fell in five, 25-23, 18-25, 26-24, 18-25 and 15-9.
Nicole Kosakowski had 10 kills and five aces for HB (4-9) and Shelby Klaassens had seven kills and two blocks. Sam Burke and Hailey Klaassens each had six kills and one block while Max Harper had 27 assists and two aces.
Portsmouth Christian 3, Concord Christian 0
The Eagles picked up a win over the Kingsman by scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-17.
Bea Monahan had six kills, two aces and 11 digs while Lexi Jordan recorded 20 assists, seven aces and seven digs for PCA (5-7). Molly Marquis and Caroline Braman each had six kills while Marion Spurr had nine digs and Dylan Anderson had two blocks.
