Around the Granite State: Exeter boys lacrosse holds off Portsmouth (video)
Here are results from Saturday’s high school lacrosse action.
EXETER – Sam Gibney scored four goals to help the Exeter High School boys lacrosse team hold off Portsmouth for a 10-5 win Friday night.
Sean Haugh added a goal and three assists and Tommy Graves had two goals and an assist as the Blue Hawks (6-2, No. 4 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first half.
Matt Wilhelm added a goal and an assist while Alex Carrigan and Luke Caron also had a goal apiece. Ronan Wilbur came up with eight saves for Exeter while Logan Schwalje, Jackson Laranger and Chase Barrett played well defensively.
Portsmouth (7-1, No. 5) got two goals from Gus Baker while Max Deneen had two assists. Gus Alati, Sam Biddle and Trevor Sifferlen also had a goal apiece and Cortland Barr had an assist.
Milford 4, Mystic Valley 1
Tyler Noble and Bentley Bowers each had two goals to lead the Spartans past Mystic Valley Charter School, from Malden, Mass.
Jace Wilhelmi added two assists for Milford (2-4) while Rocco Bartling finished with 13 save and Josh Clark recorded eight faceoff wins.
Girls Lacrosse
No. 3 Exeter 15, Concord 1
Riley Benevides had five goals and an assist to lead the Blue Hawks past the Crimson Tide.
Grace McIlroy added three goals and three assists and Josie Drunsic had a goal and three assists for Exeter (7-2). Addy Gwinn recorded two goals and an assist and Kelsey Hayward also scored twice while Josephine Vadala had a goal and an assist and Evie Lafreniere also scored.
Molly Byrne recorded two saves and Maggie Lilly had one save.
