Nicole Melick scored 13 points to help lead the fifth-seeded Exeter High School girls basketball team to a 38-23 win Monday night over No. 12 Portsmouth in the Division I preliminary round.

Emme Kayes added eight points for the Blue Hawks (14-5) and Lexy Rogers added seven points, four steals and four assists. Jessica Melick recorded six points and 11 rebounds and Mya Dinneen chipped in with three assists and two steals.

Exeter moves on to the quarterfinals, where it will face No. 4 Nashua South at 6 p.m. Thursday in Nashua.

No. 2 Bedford 64, No. 15 Nashua North 45

Sarah Muir scored 19 points to help the Bulldogs open the playoffs with a win over the Titans.

Muir hit three 3-pointers while Eva Zink added 12 points and Mel McCarthy chipped in with 10 points. Annie Zink and Juliet Laws had seven points apiece for Bedford (17-2).

North (8-11) got 15 points each from Angie King and Alaina Small, as they hit five and two 3-pointers, respectively. Lily Small was also in double figures with 12 points.

Bedford will host a quarterfinal against No. 10 Salem at 6 p.m. Thursday.

No. 6 Windham 61, No. 11 Timberlane 36

Rileigh Finneran scored 21 points for the Jaguars as they rolled to a playoff win against the Owls.

Maddy Begley added 10 points and Liz Grasso finished with nine markers for Windham (13-6). The Jaguars got out to a 33-16 lead in the first half.

Rylee Donahue had 19 points to lead Timberlane (10-9) and Sam Mooney added 12 points.

Windham moves on to the quarterfinals, where it will face No. 3 Londonderry on the road at 6 p.m. Thursday.

No. 10 Salem 39, No. 7 Manchester Central-West

The Blue Devils went on the road, and after a low-scoring first quarter, pulled away for a playoff win over Central-West.

Nicole Ringdahl led the way with nine points for Salem (11-8) and Liz Defrancesco added eight points and 13 rebounds. Morgann Raskow also added eight points and Makayla Burns grabbed 11 rebounds.

Salem will go on the road again for the quarterfinals, as the Blue Devils face No. 2 Bedford at 6 p.m. Thursday.
