Around the Granite State: Exeter girls basketball wraps up with win over Manchester Central-West
Here are results from Tuesday’s high school girls basketball action.
The Exeter High School girls basketball team finished the Division I regular season Tuesday with a 51-35 road win over Manchester Central-West and clinched the fifth seed in the upcoming tournament.
Jessica Melick had a double double with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Lexy Rogers added 15 points and four assists for the Blue Hawks (13-5). Nicole Melick was also in double figures with 10 points to go with four steals.
Emme Kayes, Mya Dinneen, Emma Gillis, Maya Simeone and May Atlee also played well defensively for Exeter, which will host a D1 preliminary-round game on March 2.
Central-West (12-6) will be the No. 7 seed in the playoffs and will also host a first-round game.
Pinkerton 52, Dover 45
The Astros trailed by five after one quarter, but took control with a 23-point second quarter on the way to a road win over the Green Wave.
Brooke Benz led Pinkerton (9-9) with 16 points while Taya Brown added 12 points and Madison Leccese scored 10 points, including two 3-pointers. Cara Mahn also had two 3s and finished with nine points.
The win clinches the 13th seed for the Astros, meaning they’ll be on the road for the start of the D1 playoffs.
Souhegan 59, ConVal 17
The Sabers led 25-9 at halftime and cruised to a win over the Cougars in their D2 regular-season finale.
Zofia Rosenfield led the way for Souhegan (13-5) with 14 points and Julia Skelton added 13 points. Lanai Hickman was also in double figures with 10 points.
The Sabers will be either the No. 6 or 7 seed in the D2 playoffs and will host a tournament game for the first time since 2016 on March 4.
Salem 52, Timberlane 42
Ali Marshall scored 13 points to lead the Blue Devils to a win over the Owls in their final game of the D1 regular season.
Nicole Ringdahl also had 12 points for Salem (10-8). Both teams will be on the road for the first round of the playoffs on March 2.
