Around the Granite State: Exeter, Goffstown field hockey pick up wins (videos)

SALEM – Dani Caron scored the game’s only goal less than five minutes in and the Exeter High School field hockey team made it stand in a 1-0 win Monday over Salem.

Caron netted the goal with 11:20 left in the first quarter and the Blue Hawks (6-7) withstood a couple of pushes in the second half from the Blue Devils (7-6) to hang on for the win. That included a stretch of five straight penalty corners in the third quarter for Salem and a penalty stroke in the fourth.

Amalia Gloss finished with seven saves, including one on the stroke attempt by Piper Dezan with under eight minutes remaining in the game. Salem had 10 penalty corners on the day while Exeter had five.

Nathalia Garcia had 12 saves for the Blue Devils. while Avery Aliberti and Averie Bolduc played well.

Goffstown 1, Nashua South 0

GOFFSTOWN – The Grizzlies got a first-quarter goal from Trinity Lunn and that proved to be enough in a win over the Panthers.

Meredith Twomey had an assist on the goal for Goffstown (4-9-1) and Hope Moulton finished with 11 saves.

Meury Navarrete made 13 saves for the Panthers (3-11) while Sofia Forti, Wylie Hart, Keegan Dolan and Emme Christian played well.

Goffstown 2, Bishop Guertin 1 (OT – Saturday)

Trinity Lunn scored off a penalty corner with no time left to tie the game and the Grizzlies beat the Cardinals in overtime on a breakaway goal from Meredith Twomey.

Hope Moulton made 14 saves for Goffstown in the win, including on a breakaway in overtime.

Addison Daddona had the lone goal for Bishop Guertin.

Plymouth 4, Derryfield 2

Trista Strickland had a goal and two assists to help lead the Bobcats to the win over the Cougars.

Amelia Avery added two goals and Serena McKenney also scored for Plymouth (8-4) while Lexi Joyce recorded an assist. Amy Watto and Sydney Fullerton also played well at midfield and on defense, respectively, for the Bobcats.

No. 4 Pinkerton 3, Concord 1

Jordyn Schreiber, Brynn McKenna and Cara Murray each had a goal to help the Astros to the win against the Crimson Tide.

Gwen Lee and Fran Doyle each added an assist for Pinkerton (9-4, No. 4 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) while Molly Kuncik had six saves and Kara McIntyre played well defensively.

No. 3 Keene 5, Windham 0

Scarlett Miller had two goals and an assist as the Blackbirds won at home against the Jaguars.

Camille Hanson also had a goal and an assist while Lola Ballaro and Olive Thatcher added a agoal apiece for Keene (11-1-1). McKenna Nelson recorded a pair of assists for the Blackbirds.

The defense of goalie Dayna English, along with Paige Ells, Emily Antosiewicz, Emma Petrovich, Natalia Gillis and Zoe Allaire, helped keep Windham without a shot on goal.

Girls Volleyball

Alvirne 3, Hollis Brookline 1

The Cavaliers fell on the road against the Broncos.

Harper Sarris had 29 assists for HB (3-8) while Hailey Klaassens had 10 kills and Sam Burke added six kills. Hershey Vedula played solid defense for the Cavs.

HB hosts Merrimack on Wednesday for the Jeanie Night fundraiser for Jeanie’s Jar of Hope Foundation.

Portsmouth Christian 3, Epping 1

The Eagles picked up the win over the Blue Devils by scores of 25-12, 24-26, 25-13 and 25-19.

Bea Monahan had 13 kills, five aces and 19 digs while Dylan Anderson had 10 kills and Caroline Braman had five kills and three blocks. Lexi Jordan recorded 32 assists and nine digs and Marion Spurr had 17 digs for PCA (3-7).
