Around the Granite State: Friday’s Roundup
Catie Summers scored twice to help lead the Souhegan High School field hockey team to a 4-1 win over Pelham on Friday.
Summers second goal came off a penalty corner with 4:45 left in the first quarter proved to be the game-winner, while Molly Atkinson and Annika Madeja also had a goal apiece for the Sabers (1-0). Hannah Kohlenberger and Annabella Raduazzo played well for Souhegan.
Pelham (0-1) got its only goal from Madi Robito just 1:15 into the second quarter to make it 2-1, but the Pythons would get no closer.
Souhegan finished with seven corners, scoring off two of them, while Pelham had four corners, getting a goal off one.
Concord 7, Pembroke 0
Jordan Cromwell scored two goals and had an assist as the Crimson Tide opened the season with a shutout of the Spartans.
Gaby Pimentel and Amy Cohen added two goals a piece for Concord, which was able to “break through Pembroke’s defensive lines and capitalized on opportunities,” according to coach Andy Briers.
Emma Beaujouan added a goal while Maria Armaganian, Alice Rosenberg and Kait McKinnon each had an assist.
Bishop Brady 7, Conant 2
The Giants opened their Division III title defense with a win over the Orioles.
After a scoreless first quarter, Bishop Brady opened things up late in the second, as Libbey Hicks scored off an assist from Riley Marsh with 2:37 to go, and Rebecca Murphy made it 2-0 with 8.6 seconds left in the half, with Margaret Sheehan getting the assist.
Halle Laramie tacked on two goals early in the third, one off an assist from Jillian Weaver, and Hicks picked up her second, making it 5-0. Teagon Kirby got Conant on the board, scoring off an assist from Liz Gonyea with 1:37 left in the third.
Murphy got her second of the game to open the fourth, with the assist going to Ashlyn Toupin, and Marsh got a goal moments later, with Laramie getting the assist.
Kirby closed out the scoring, with Gonyea getting the assist, with 7:40 remaining.
Julie Blais played well in goal for Bishop Brady, recording a save, while Tessa Spingola had nine saves for Conant.
Gilford 1, Winnisquam 0 (OT)
Aly Pichette scored with five minutes remaining in overtime to lift the Golden Eagles to a win. Taryn Fountain had an assist on the goal.
