Around the Granite State: Friday’s Roundup
Gavin Urda scored six goals to help lead the Milford High School boys lacrosse team to a 16-4 win over Stevens on Friday in Division III action.
Cam O’Shaughnessy added three goals and two assists and Matt Hannon had two goals and two assists from the Spartans (2-1). Owen Clary also had two goals and Corey Girouard and Riley O’Shaughnessy chipped in with a goal apiece.
Corben Sroka added an assist while Tim Gagnon made four saves and Josh Shaw and Kyle Forsley played well defensively.
Stevens got two goals from Quentin Bicknell while Alex Devre (assist) and Donovan Putnam had a goal apiece. Ian Fitzpatrick also had an assist and Tucker Derosier had 22 saves.
Windham 14, John Stark 3
The Generals got out to a 2-0 lead, but couldn’t hold on against the Jaguars.
Tyler Folsom (two assist) and PJ Marsh each had four goals for Windham while Jake Rust had three goals and an assist. Noah Rust recorded two goals and an assist while Leo Piandes added a goal and two assists.
Kayden Easter had two goals for John Stark while Parker McQuarrie also scored. Ethan Konrad made 12 saves and Matt Bennetter was strong on faceoffs.
Girls Lacrosse
Nashua South 10, Concord 4
The Panthers picked up their first win of the year, getting three goals and an assist from Sarah Signorello.
Kirsten McIntire added two goals and three assists while Liz Harrington and Laura Galvez each had a goal and an assist. Abby Rowe made nine saves for South (1-3) and Emily Colburn was strong on the draw.
Paige Garland, Hannah Dumaine and Bailey Morin also had a goal apiece for the Panthers and Tara Saliany recorded an assist. Izzy Bolduc, Maddie Sewade and Emma Pucilo played well defensively.
Hollis Brookline 15, Kingswood 3
The Cavaliers improved to 4-1 on the season with a win over the Knights.
CeCe Fetter led the way for HB with four goals, six groundballs, six draw controls and an assist. Reagan Berry, Kelsey Sweeney and Paisley Broadhurst also had three goals apiece.
The Cavs also got a goal each from Victoria Bruzik and Brooke Allanach. Abbey Magnuszewski added four assists in the win and Olivia Valentine made six saves while Caroline Smith and Tasha White played well defensively.
Boys Volleyball
Hollis Brookline 3, Souhegan 0
The Cavaliers swept the Sabers, winning by scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-18.
Jonathan Brackett had 14 kills to lead HB (3-2) and Scott VanCoughnett had 27 assists. Sander Wimmer recorded two blocks and Jack Sinclair had six digs.
Boys Tennis
Souhegan 5, Portsmouth 4
The Sabers remained undefeated in Division II while handing the Clippers their first loss of the season.
Souhegan held a 4-2 lead after the singles matches thanks to convincing wins by Matt Lapsley (No. 1), Sam Goddard (No. 2) and Kyle Gibson (No. 3) while Josh Lacaillade took the No. 5 match, 9-7, over Matt Legger.
Lapsley and Goddard teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles over Jack Madden and Addison Bloom to wrapup the victory.
Bloom (No. 4) and Max Hitchcock (No. 6) got singles wins for Portsmouth, while Ryan Porter and Elliot Danley (No. 2) and Legger and Calvin Kobylinski (No. 3) won their doubles matches.
