Around the Granite State: Friday’s Roundup
Jessica Vo scored the game’s only goal in the second half and the Goffstown High School field hockey team pulled out a 1-0 win over Merrimack Valley in Division II action on Friday.
Emily Campbell got an assist on the goal and MacKenzie Potvin earned the shutout for the Grizzlies (5-4-1), her fifth of the season.
Bishop Guertin 1, Merrimack 1
The Cardinals and Tomahawks played to a tie in a game at UMass-Lowell.
Rachel Readron gave Bishop Guertin the lead with seven minutes left in the first half, as she scored off an assist from Lindsay Hult. Merrimack tied the game with 12 minutes to play, as Theresa Twardosky assisted on a goal by Demetria Gonzalez to even it up.
Heather Rohr made eight saves for the Tomahawks while Bishop Guertin’s Monina Tosi made four stops.
Boys Soccer
Souhegan 3, Pelham 0
Mike Estabrook had a goal and an assist to lead the Sabers to their first win of the season.
Miles Drum and Chris Weeden also scored for Souhegan and Ethan Ramm made five saves to earn the shutout.
Pelham’s Gregg Nichols made seven saves in the loss.
Girls Volleyball
Hollis Brookline 3, Manchester Memorial 0
The Cavaliers moved to 11-0 on the season with the sweep of the winless Crusaders. Game scores were 25-6, 25-15 and 25-10.
Kyra Belden recorded 28 assists, including her 1,000th career assist, to lead HB, while Kaleigh Whalen had eight aces and six kills. Maddie Norris added six kills and two aces while Ashley Burtt had four kills and two blocks and Sammie Sheppard had 14 digs and four aces.
Bishop Guertin 3, Timberlane 1
The Cardinals got win over the Owls by scores of 25-21, 24-26, 25-20 and 25-19.
Maddy Keating had three aces, seven kills and 16 digs for the Cardinals while Paola Matos had 26 digs and Julia Pascucci had 17 kills, 16 assists and 13 digs.
Rachel Crowell added five kills and five blocks and Alicia Glasheen had 32 assists and 10 digs.
Epping 3, Raymond 0
The Blue Devils improved to 7-3 with the win over the Rams. Scores were 25-14, 25-9 and 25-11.
Anna Re had six aces, three kills and four digs for Epping, while Hayley Pelletier had five aces, three kills and four digs. Morgan Shanley recorded four aces, one kill and one dig.
