Around the Granite State: Goffstown boys lacrosse holds on to beat Merrimack

GOFFSTOWN – Eli Dillaway scored what proved to be the game-winning goal Thursday night and the Goffstown High School boys lacrosse team grabbed a 7-6 win over Merrimack.

Dillaway scored with 6:24 left, less than a minute after Merrimack’s Beau Lamontagne scored to tie the game and bring the Tomahawks back from a three-goal deficit.

Sam Chapman had three goals and an assist for the Grizzlies (4-3 in Division II) while Drew Sealy, Owen Matatall and Tyler Lessard also scored a goal apiece. Sean Cote made 14 saves for Goffstown.

Conor Dunn had two goals and an assist to lead Merrimack (3-5 in D1) and Max Giles added a goal and an assist. Henry Tobin and Cayden Dine had a goal each and Mason Tremblay finished with 11 saves.

Merrimack Valley 8, Hanover 4

Colin Reardon and Tyler Carter had two goals apiece as the Pride survived a 30-minute weather delay to knock off the Bears.

Brayden Hussey had a goal and two assists while Mike Heine, Jake Demers and Conner Hanson had a goal apiece. Matt Lauren added an assist while Colby Scheffer, Nolan Beck, Travis Garcia and Jake Leclerc played well.

Michael Kingsbury made five saves for Merrimack Valley (3-2) and Carter Lankhorst was 11 of 16 on faceoffs.

Nashua South 7, Nashua North 5

The Titans came up short against the Panthers in this year’s battle for the Monsen Cup.

Alec Jenkerson and Dylan Noble had two goals apiece. Jace Colon finished with 14 saves for North.

No. 3 Portsmouth 13, Winnacunnet 5

Zac Amend and Ben Purcell each had six goals as the Clippers knocked off the Warriors.

Amend added two assists, as did Briggs Catino, while Reilly Collins had a goal and an assist and Thijs Beelen had an assist. Nick Smith and Sam Biddle combined to win 14 of 20 faceoffs.

Kai Paterson finished with 15 saves while Masi Shone, Ethan Landers and Andy Brown played well defensively.

Laconia 16, Gilford 2

Seven players scored goals for the Sachems in their win over the Golden Eagles.

Sam Mize (one assist) and JP Harriman had four goals apiece while Brody Rollins had two goals and three assists. Carson Tucker and Eli Nadeau had two goals and two assists apiece while Brady Stevens had a goal and two assists.

Chris Amato also had a goal while Caden Tucker, Alex Richardson, Landen Brothers and Yuir Luis played well on defense.

Girls Lacrosse

No. 9 Nashua South 15, Nashua North 2

Morgan Uzdanovich scored four goals and had an assist to lead the Panthers past the Titans.

Maddie Matylewski added three goals and an assist and Karina O’Donnell also had three scores. Saige Devins and Ella Benzekri had two goals and an assist apiece while Maren Lowell also scored.

Nevaeh Eppolitto recorded an assist and Keira Walsh finished with eight saves.

Pembroke 15, ConVal 6

Bailey Gatchell had seven goals to help lead the Spartans to a win over the Cougars, their first victory of the year.

Laila Al-Shawafi added four goals for Pembroke and Kendall Purtell finished with two scores. Kaden Lantz and Lily Ricci had a goal apiece.

Oyster River-Newmarket 18, Alvirne 0

The Bobcats got six goals and three assists from Grace Royal to beat the Broncos.

Emy Przybylski had three goals and four assists while Kira Jakobs and Keira Ferris had two goals apiece. Mia Weglarz and Bel Ejarque each had a goal and an assist while Shea Sullivan, Lily Zehetner and Kris Jakobs also had a goal apiece.

Alvirne goalie Alexa Kruger finished with 13 saves while Audriana Chipperini, Addison Lemire, Cadence Bice and Reese Durkee played well.

Manchester Central 15, Spaulding 4

Izzy Orrell finished with 10 saves but the Red Raiders came up short against the Little Green.

Kate McCawley had a goal and two assists for Spaulding while Sarah Lin, Molli Gould and Audrey Fuller scored a goal apiece.

Hopkinton 18, Milford 1

Sarah Chodosh led the way with four goals and two assists as the Hawks rolled past the Spartans.

Sydney Westover (one assist) and Avery Chase had three goals apiece while Marcella Guadagno had two goals and two assists. Lia Chapin (one assist) and Maeve Owens added two goals each while Helen Yeaton and Veronica Nylund had a goal each.

Lilly Chodosh had two assists and Molly Hodgdon added an assist while Viola Pietrabissa finished with five saves

Derryfield 21, Bishop Brady 5

Maddy Paolino had five goals and an assist for the Cougars as they got past the Giants.

Lilly Handwerk had four goals and an assist and Chloe Bremberg had three goals and three assists. Taylor Bradley had two goals and two assists and Teagan Peabody and Ariel Berger had two goals apiece.

Alex Benson and Courtney Wold each had a goal and an assist while Mia Chen also scored and Kelsi Bremberg had an assist. Lily Kfoury had six saves and Sadie Walsh also saw time in goal.
