Around the Granite State: Hanover girls lacrosse stages big comeback against Timberlane (video)

PLAISTOW – Cassidy Loughman scored seven goals, including the game-winner, to help the Hanover High School girls lacrosse team come back for a 17-15 win Monday against Timberlane.

Loughman’s final goal with 2:25 remaining gave the Bears (3-1) their first lead of the game, after they trailed by as many as seven goals in the second quarter. Hanover ended the game on a 6-0 run, holding the Owls (2-1) scoreless for the final 13 minutes of the game.

Casey Wilkinson added a goal and four assists while Joia Collins had four goals and Nora Bradley scored three goals. Iris Chestnut and Sage Fargher added a goal and an assist apiece while Charlotte Robinson made 10 saves.

Timberlane got four goals and two assists from Lulu Trasatti, while Ella Lampron (one assist) and Ella Watts each had four goals. Aubrey Fitzgerald added two goals and Julia Johnson had a goal and an assist. Kayla Apitz finished with 11 saves.

The Owls started fast, getting out to a 4-0 lead in the game’s first four minutes. After a timeout by the Bears, Hanover answered with a 3-0 run, but Timberlane regrouped enough to take a 7-4 lead into the second.

A 6-0 run by the Owls made it 11-4 with 6:30 left in the first half, and it was 12-6 Timberlane at halftime. Hanover opened the third quarter with a 5-0 run to get within one, 12-11, with 7:06 left in the third, but Timberlane responded with three straight goals to lead 15-11 with 1:03 to go in the quarter.

Loughman scored with two seconds left in the third to stop the Owls’ run and start the Bears on a run of their own. Wilkinson’s goal tied the game at 15 with 7:16 remaining, and after the teams traded chances, Loughman put the Bears in front for the first time. Bradley added an insurance goal with 1:21 remaining.

No. 4 Pinkerton 20, Dover 3

Hannah Lisauskas had five goals and five assists to lead the Astros to the win over the Green Wave.

Francesca Doyle added four goals and an assist and Delanie Summers had three goals and two assists for Pinkerton (2-1, No. 4 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll). Ava Michelinie recorded three goals and Sookie Folsom had two goals and two assists.

Elise Collins, Mia Eckerman and Lexi Last chipped in a goal apiece and Sara DiClemente made four saves.

Pelham 14, Pembroke 6

Ella DeSimone scored five goals, including the 100th of her career, and had an assist as the Pythons knocked off the Spartans.

Jessica Phillip added three goals and an assist while Julianne Rocha scored twice. Makenzie Comtois, Mia Wilkins, Katherine Carroll and Lyla Price had a goal apiece and Abigail King recorded an assist.

Addison Breault finished with 11 saves for Pelham (2-0).

Kendall Purtell led Pembroke with three goals and Bailey Gatchell had two goals and an assist. Laila Al-Shawafi also scored and Faith Young had two assists.

Jules Davis made seven saves for the Spartans.

No. 6 Exeter 21, Salem 5

The Blue Hawks got goals from 10 players as the rolled past the Blue Devils.

Karli Scherpf led the way with three goals and five assists and Hailey O’Kane had four goals and an assist. Phoebe Christenson added two goals and two assists.

Riley Benevides scored three goals for Exeter (4-0) while Claire Wilhelm, Anna Lieberman and Josie Drunsic each had two goals. Grace McIlroy added a goal and an assist while Ellie Dean and Kate Hyles had a goal apiece.

Molly Byrne recorded three saves for the Blue Hawks.

Salem got three goals from Katie Wood while Lily Burke and Nicole Ringdahl had a goal apiece. Olivia Schoenrock finished with 21 saves.

No. 10 Winnacunnet 14, Oyster River-Newmarket 4

Sky Mace had five goals to help the Warriors pick up a win over the Bobcats.

McKinley Fowler added three goals and an assist and Elle Emery had two goals and a helper. Sarah Radermacher recorded two assists while Emmy Granger, Annika Jacques (one assist), Reese Gandt and Emily Arlington had a goal apiece.

No. 5 Bedford 15, No. 7 Nashua South 9

The Panthers trailed 7-6 at halftime, but couldn’t hang on in the second half against the Bulldogs.

Addie Bordan and Carly Benzekri led the way for South (2-1) with three goals apiece while Maren Lowell had two goals and an assist. Briley Landsteiner added a goal and Saige Devins chipped in with two assists,

Lilee Petricca made six saves and Karina O’Donnell and Nevaeh Eppolitto also played well for the Panthers.

St. Thomas 22, Laconia 3

Charlotte De Tolla scored seven goals and Reece Anderson recorded her 100th career point in the Saints’ win over the Sachems.

Talula Gregg had five goals while Anderson and Lizzy Holden each had three goals for St. Thomas (2-0). Kensley Harris scored twice and Izzy Taylor and Ava Lyder had a goal apiece.

Chloe Baker made two saves in goal while Lyder and Lena Shaheen played well defensively.

Goffstown 26, Spaulding 3

Sarah Lin, Payton Boumel and Naomi Brake each had a goal for the Red Raiders and Izzy Orrell had 16 saves.

Boys Lacrosse

Laconia 10, Campbell 9 (OT)

Sean O’Sullivan scored his only goal of the game when it mattered most, getting the game-winner in overtime off an assist from Eli Nadeau to lift the Sachems past the Cougars.

Nadeau finished with four goals and three assists and Brady Stevens had three goals for Laconia (3-0). Paul Ganchi had a goal and an assist while Caden Tucker recorded an assist.

Pelham 18, Milford 4

The Spartans got three goals from Mitchell Broadhurst, but it wasn’t enough against the Pythons.

Dylan MacLeod also had a goal for Milford and Cam Callahan had an assist. Rocco Bartling made six saves in goal and Brennan Cassidy finished with five.

Souhegan 11, Merrimack Valley 10 (OT)

Ayden McGrath scored with 2:38 remaining in overtime to give the Sabers their first win of the season against the Pride.

McGrath finished with six goals and an assist while Brandon Silva had two goals and two assists, including the game-tying goal with 1:28 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Chase Wilmot added a goal and two assists and Matt Mullian scored one goal and had one assist for Souhegan (1-3) while Sean Reardon finished with 14 saves.

Merrimack Valley (1-2) got three goals from Tyler Cater and two goals and two assists from Carl Lauren. Jake Demers had two goals and an assist and Chris Hanson added a goal and an assist.

No. 7 Merrimack 10, Keene-Monadnock 2

Mason Trembley made 11 saves to help lead the Tomahawks to a win over the Blackbirds.

Trevor Shorette, Beau Lamontagne, Gavin Hickey, Colby Smith and Bret Vietry played well defensively for Merrimack (3-1).

No. 10 Winnacunnet 14, Oyster River-Newmarket 7

Becket Rath scored nine goals to lead the Warriors past the Bobcats.

Alec Mitchell had two goals and an assist and won 17 of 25 faceoffs while Liam McNally and Brian McCown had a goal and an assist each for Winnacunnet (3-1).

Braden Nowak also scored while Burke Spaulding, Hale Dodier and Jax Masse chipped in an assist apiece. Joel Williams recorded 10 saves in goal.

No. 8 Goffstown 13, Spaulding 1

The Grizzlies picked up a win over the Red Raiders behind four goals and an assist from Trevor Spofford.

Sean Burnett won 14 of 16 faceoffs for Goffstown (2-1).

Londonderry 17, Nashua North 5

The Titans came up short against the Lancers, despite getting three goals from Dylan Noble.

Jack Krulikowski had an assist for North and Josh Parsons made 15 saves.

No. 3 Pinkerton 17, Dover 9

The Astros led by two goals at halftime but opened things up in the third quarter to pick up the win against the Green Wave.

Kyle Ushkevich led Pinkerton (3-0) with seven goals and Matt Gormady finished with six scores. Jeff Gormady added two goals and an assist.

Aiden Jones and Dylan Stingel did well on faceoffs and Brendan Carney, Ben Quintiliani and Tyler Pinardi provided solid wing play. The defense was led by Ronan Connors and Cole Mackin.

Ben Tower led Dover with three goals and an assist while Tobey Desroches and Logan Carter two two goals apiece. Kyle Behand and Cooper Ketcham had a goal and an assist and Parker Ketcham added two assists.

Danny Bretz recorded 15 saves for the Green Wave.

No. 5 Derryfield 17, Alvirne 1

The Cougars led 13-0 at halftime on the way to a win over the Broncos.

Emerson Stover scored five goals and Brady Doldo had four goals and two assists to lead Derryfield (3-0). RJ Proulx added two goals and two assists while Ryan Maxwell and Dom Cercone had a goal and three assists apiece.

Jackson Hatfield also scored and had two assists and Heath Mueller scored twice. Garrett Lande chipped in with a goal and Awaab Mousa added an assist.

Jaxon DeYoung made eight saves while Hatfield, Mousa, Dylan Clyne and Isaac Kosakowski combined to win 19 of 22 faceoffs.

Joe Sperazzo had the lone goal for Alvirne.

Windham 15, Concord 7

Josh Trudel and Evan Ardizzone each three goals to lead the Jaguars past the Crimson Tide.

Trudel also had two assists and Adrizzone added one while Sam Kramer had a goal and five assists. Ethan Peluso recorded three assists and eight groundballs.

Brayden Beauregard led Concord with three goals and an assist while Jaden Haas had a goal and two assists and was 15 of 26 on faceoffs.

Tyler Morin had a goal and an assist while Eugene Conn and Liam Yeatman added a goal apiece. Noah Wyatt also had an assist for the Crimson Tide.

Timberlane 10, Hanover 8

The Owls moved to 3-0 on the year with a road win over the Bears.

Rocco Psareas had two goals and three assists to lead Timberlane while Gio Recesso had three goals and an assist. Landon Petry and Gavin Dubois had two goals and an assist apiece and Bradyn Gillespie dished out three assists.

Dylan Linbald also scored a goal while Joseph Hughes made 10 saves and Mark St. Jean won 15 of 22 faceoffs.

Boys Tennis

Exeter 9, Bishop Guertin 0

The Blue Hawks improved to 6-0 on the season with a sweep of the Cardinals.

Oliver Beradino (8-5) and Owen Russell (8-3) got wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and then teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Coco Pazourek (8-0, No. 3), Pavel Pazourek (8-1, No. 4), Michale Burke (8-1, No. 5) and Nick Rosa (8-2, No. 6) also got singles wins for Exeter.

Coco Pazourek and Burke got an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles while Pavel Pazourek and Rosa combined on an 8-1 win at No. 3.
