Around the Granite State: Harrington’s OT goal gives Bishop Guertin field hockey a win
Here are high school sports results from the weekend.
Maddie Harrington scored in overtime to give the Bishop Guertin High School field hockey team a 2-1 win Friday over Goffstown.
Harrington also assisted on a goal by Addison Daddonna, as the Cardinals (10-1-1, No. 5 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll) had 28 shots on goal.
Sophie Bilodeau and Jordan Gaebel played well for Bishop Guertin while Gabby Gillette, Lola Dumont and goalie Ayla Saeturn were solid on defense.
No. 1 Keene 6, Merrimack 0
Harper Zalaski and Maddie Boudle each scored a pair of goals for the Blackbirds in a win over the Tomahawks on Friday.
McKenna Nelson and Olive Thatcher had a goal and an assist apiece while Zalaski, Lola Ballaro and Sofia Miller each had an assist. Ella Rice played well in goal for Keene (11-0-1).
No. 6 Pinkerton 4, Portsmouth 0
Jaelyn Crossman had two goals and an assist as the Astros picked up the win over the Clippers on Friday night.
Hannah Lisauskas and Meaghan Shea added a goal apiece while Molly Kuncik finished with two saves for Pinkerton (9-3-1). Jada Vasquez played well at midfield and Ayvree Hamilton was solid on defense.
Nashua South 4, Manchester Memorial-Central 2
Saige Devins and Wylie Hart had a pair of goals apiece for the Panthers as they got a road win over Manchester Friday night.
Keegan Dolan, Sofia Forte and Karina O’Donnell each had an assist for South (3-9) while Isabelle Shiju made 11 saves, including one on a penalty stroke. Brooke Berger, Ave DerGarabedian, Emily Richard, Molly Mullaney and Lily Shulte also played well.
South will host Goffstown at 4 p.m. on Monday at the high school for it’s annual game in memory of Jenna Chiavelli, a 2020 graduate who died in 2022 from glioblastoma. The team will be collecting donations for the Jenna Chiavelli Charitable Foundation.
Windham 2, Nashua North 0
Ella Gallinelli and Emme Mulrenan each had a goal to lead the Jaguars to a win over the Titans on Friday
Kendall Salvador and Abbie Petrini recorded an assist apiece for Windham (3-7).
Bishop Brady 7, Monadnock 1
Teaghan Bohannon scored the first goal of the season for the Huskies in their loss to the Giants on Thursday.
Jillian Ellis picked up an assist on the goal and Makayla Harwood played well in goal for Monadnock.
Football
No. 1 Bedford 47, Merrimack 0
The Bulldogs improved to 4-0 in D1 (5-0 overall) with a shutout of the Tomahawks on Friday night.
Brody Helton ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries while Jack Maye was 11 of 16 passing for 157 yards and three scores, and had a 12-yard rushing touchdown.
Peter Suozzo caught two passes for 47 yards, with both going for scores, while Bennett Mathews had five catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. Parker Beauchemin also completed both of his passes for 64 yards and a 52-yard touchdown to Eric Millis.
Girls Volleyball
Portsmouth Christian 3, Concord Christian 2
The Eagles held off a rally by the Kingsmen to get the win on Friday. Scores were 25-22, 25-20, 14-25, 15-25 and 15-11.
Quinn Arico had 11 kills, 12 assists, two aces and 15 digs for PCA (9-1) and Heidi Geyer added six kills, three aces and 19 digs. Lexi Jordan finished with 12 assists and three aces and Lily Druge had four aces.
Emma Eisner recorded 21 digs and Caroline Braman had three blocks.
Hollis Brookline 3, Alvirne 0
The Cavaliers picked up a sweep of the Broncos at home. Scores were 25-17, 25-19 and 25-12.
Kate Berrigan had nine kills and five aces for HB (8-2) and Anika Carlson had 14 kills. Lolly Adair had six kills and one ace and Maggie Noble had six kills.
