Around the Granite State: Hollis Brookline boys lacrosse picks up win against Nashua South (video)
Here are results from Tuesday’s high school sports action.
HOLLIS – Bennett Torgerson had four goals and two assists to help the Hollis Brookline High School boys lacrosse team to an 11-6 win Tuesday night over Nashua South.
Noah Taylor added three goals and an assist while Mike O’Hearn had two goals and three assists for the Cavaliers (3-0 in Division II). JP Torgerson also had a goal and two assists and Colin Magnuszewski chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Levi Mitchell finished with 14 saves for HB while Dillon Kinney, Aiden O’Hearn, Tyler Allen and Sebastian Smith played well.
South (1-3 in D1) got two goals from Grayson Flaherty while Luke Lowell and Broden Landsteiner each had a goal and an assist. Grant Imbeault recorded two assists while Tyler Benzekri and Owen Roay added a goal apiece.
Cody Jackson chipped in with an assist and Jake Lynn finished with 16 saves for the Panthers.
Girls Lacrosse
No. 9 Windham 6, Hollis Brookline 5
The Jaguars scored back-to-back goals less than a minute a part late in the third quarter to break a 4-4 tie and held off the Cavaliers to get the win.
Anna Hartmann scored twice for Windham (3-1, No. 9 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) and Ally Hartmann had a goal and an assist. Sophie Manchester scored what proved to be the game-winner with 2:58 left in the third and Darby Madden and Kiera Lee also had a goal apiece.
Lyla Filadoro made 10 saves in goal for the Jaguars.
Sabrina Hill led HB (0-4) with three goals and an assist, including one with 1:10 remaining to make it a one-goal game, while Sam Smith had a goal and an assist and Nyah Jernberg also scored.
Pelham 14, Milford 5
Ella DeSimone had five goals and an assist to help the Pythons to a win over the Spartans.
Jessica Phillips added three goals for Pelham (2-0) while Makenzie Comtois and Julianne Rocha had two goals apiece. Mia Wilkins and Katherine Carroll each scored a goal.
Addison Breault finished with six saves in the win.
No. 10 Winnacunnet 22, No. 6 Exeter 15
The Warriors grabbed the lead early and held on the rest of the way for their fourth straight win over the Blue Hawks.
Sky Mace had six goals and an assist to lead Winnacunnet (3-1). McKinley Fowler and Elle Emery also had five goals apiece.
Exeter (3-1, No. 6) got five goals and an assist from Phoebe Christenson and four goals from Hailey O’Kane. Riley Benevides and Anna Lieberman had two goals apiece and Karli Scherpf had a goal and two assists.
Racquel Battle also scored for the Blue Hawks and Molly Byrne finished with three saves.
ConVal 9, Alvirne 5
Cadence Bice scored four goals to lead the Broncos in a loss to the Cougars.
Audrienna Chipperini also had a goal for Alvirne and Fiona Duggan finished with 22 saves.
Baseball
Exeter 13, Nashua North 5
The Blue Hawks used a seven-run second inning to break open the game and rolled to the win over the Titans.
Brennan Schimoler was 2 for 4 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored while Finn Adams and Hayden Schimoler each had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored.
Kyle Morgado went 3 for 4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored and Jack Dever drove in two runs. Cam Crombie, Camren Piwnicki and Nolan Engler added an RBI apiece while Mike Caron and John Bakker each scored two runs.
Piwnicki pitched four innings and struck out nine while allowing two runs on two hits and five walks.
North’s Dawson Bolton was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and Owen Forcier was 2 for 4 with two runs scored.
