Around the Granite State: Hollis Brookline field hockey holds off John Stark
Here are results from this week’s high school field hockey action.
HOLLIS – The Hollis Brookline High School field hockey team scored twice in the second quarter and made it hold up Thursday night for a 2-0 win over John Stark.
Addison Marchant and Brooke Bouchard each scored a goal for the Cavaliers (4-0), as they controlled the tempo for most of the first half on the way to the lead. HB had 10 penalty corners in the opening half, with both goals coming off a corner.
Emily Tebbetts added an assist for the Cavs
The Generals (4-1, No. 10 in the NHHSSports Coaches Poll) got while Jillian Fredette and Caylin Worthen also played well.
No. 9 Oyster River 3, Pelham 0
The Bobcats grabbed their third straight win on the road by beating the Pythons.
Rowynn Pickering scored twice for Oyster River (5-0) while Sadie McLeod also scored.
Grey Bowdoin and Grace Harvey led the defense while McLeod, Olivia Armstrong and Nora Rogers were solid in the midfield.
Merrimack Valley 2, Plymouth 0
The Pride scored both goals in the first quarter and the Bobcats were chasing the rest of the way.
Plymouth got a solid game from Morgan Gilpatric, Carys Mitchell and Carly Contini.
Bow. 5, Pembroke 0
The Falcons bounced back from their first loss with a shutout of the Spartans on Wednesday.
Josie Johnson had two goals and an assist for Bow (4-1) while Sophie Coombs and Kaylee Jacques had a goal and an assist apiece. Kayla Croscut finished with eight saves.
Berlin 4, Newfound 0
Ray Bedard had two goals to lead the Mountaineers past the Bears on Wednesday.
Liv Richard and Marlee Wedge each added a goal and an assist for Berlin (4-0) while Emily Smith had two assists.
Mckenna Kelley finished with four saves in the win.
