Around the Granite State: Hopkinton field hockey comes back to beat Gilford (video)
Here are results from Tuesday’s high school field hockey action.
CONTOOCOOK – Aurelia Salce scored under a minute remaining in overtime Tuesday to give the Hopkinton High School field hockey team a 3-2 win over Gilford.
Salce scored with 32.7 seconds remaining and Autumn Meier had two goals and an assist to help the Hawks (10-1-1) overcome a 2-0 first-quarter deficit. Heidi Archambault finished with six saves for Hopkinton.
Grace Southworth had both goals for the Golden Eagles (6-5-1) while Riley Coutts and Brynn Blackwelder each recorded an assist. Both goals came in the final five minutes of the first quarter to put Gilford up 2-0, but Meier cut the lead in half with 6:04 left in the third quarter and tied it with 8:54 remaining.
Madi Breton had nine saves for the Golden Eagles.
Merrimack 8, Manchester 0
MANCHESTER – Allie Wyand had two goals and an assist to lead the Tomahawks to the win over the Kings.
Kesley Ledoux also scored twice for Merrimack (6-7-1) while Jackie Hayes, Grace Massey, Moriah Rezaoui and Kyleigh Parella added a goal apiece.
Sophie Loya finished with 19 saves for Manchester (0-13).
Mascoma Valley 3, St. Thomas 2
Sophia Smith scored two goals to help lead the Royals to the win over the Saints.
Makenna Houston also had a goal, putting Mascoma (8-2-1) on the board first in the second quarter.
Sam Harkins came up big in goal to keep the Royals in front while Ellie McGrody, Morgan Fitts and Abby Hammond played well in the win.
Conant 2, Monadnock 0
The Orioles and Huskies met for the second time in five days, and this time, it was Conant getting the win.
The game was scoreless at halftime before the Orioles broke through in the third quarter. Monadnock (3-8) got seven saves from Makayla Harwood while the team had seven penalty corners and two shots on goal.
No. 6 Souhegan 4, Kingswood 0
The Sabers got a goal and two assists from Ori Dart to get a road win against the Knights.
Eme Godin also scored twice for Souhegan (12-1, No. 6 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) while Mariellah Dart added a goal and Ella Russell had an assist. Amelia Warecki made one save in the win.
Bow 7, Plymouth 0
The Falcons got out to a 4-0 lead in the first half and pulled away from the Bobcats late in the second.
Dlorah Hussey played well for Plymouth (8-5).
