Around the Granite State: Keene gymnastics hosts final home meet
Here are results from Friday’s high school sports action.
The Keene High School gymnastics team hosted its final home meet of the season Friday night, coming in third in a six-team event.
The Blackbirds finished with a score of 124.15, coming in behind Bishop Guertin (136.2) and Windham (134.4). Exeter was fourth with a score of 114.55 with Hollis Brookline (106.4) coming in fifth and Souhegan (79.75) taking sixth.
Olivia Adams led Keene by finishing fourth in the all-around with a score of 34.15, as the sophomore was third on the vault (8.9) and third on the floor (9.15). Erin French finished ninth in the all-around, including fourth on the floor (9.05), while Andrea Pearsall tied for fifth on the floor (9.0).
Bishop Guertin’s Aubrey Leedburg was first in the all-around with a score of 35.45, while Windham’s Grace Flynn was second (35.1) and Exeter’s Becca Martin took third (34.95). Anvie Kshirsagar led HB by finishing sixth in the all-around while Paige Raczek was Souhegan’s top finisher coming in 10th.
Windham got first-place finishes from Flynn (beam, 9.2), Addison Conroy (vault, 9.2) and Kayla Bulkley (bars, 8.9) while Martin took first on the floor (9.35).
Girls Basketball
Exeter 52, Dover 43
Lexy Rogers had a double double to help lead the Blue Hawks past the Green Wave for their fifth win in a row.
Rogers had 20 points and 11 boards for Exeter (5-2) while Nicole Melick had 17 points and four steals. Ava Cammarata had eight points, including 6 of 6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter, and Emme Kayes played well defensively and finished with five assists.
Souhegan 50, ConVal 20
The Sabers got points from a dozen players as they rolled to a win over the Cougars.
Brynn Siska led the way with 11 points for Souhegan while Ella Duclos recorded seven points and Abby Mayo had six points. Sophie Cullen, Emma Mitchell and Natalie Deary all scored their first varsity points.
Savannah McCarthy and Colby Harris each finished with five points to lead ConVal.
Oyster River 57, Lebanon 33
The Bobcats took control of the game with a 26-point third quarter on the way to a win over the Raiders.
Wren Horne had 19 points to lead the way for Oyster River while Ashling Ferris added 17 points and Jazzy Alvarez was also in double figures with 13 markers. Payton Drapeau, Kendall Strong, Avery Biggwither and Grace Shulten-Neiweem each had two points.
Bedford 62, Manchester Memorial 11
The Bulldogs took a 25-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to a win over the Crusaders.
Eva Zink scored 15 points for Bedford and Annie Zink added 13 points, including three of the team’s six 3-pointers. Mia Katane scored eight points and Maddie Lacroix and Sarah Muir had seven markers apiece.
Memorial got five points from Jaelyn Hartford while Jenavyzia Collazo had four points and Naya Applewhite added two.
Boys Basketball
Manchester West 74, Coe-Brown 55
The Blue Knights hit 13 3-pointers on their way to a win over the Bears.
Amara Freeman led the way with 18 points on six 3s for West while Max Houde and Isael Cruz each had 11 points.
Coe-Brown got 22 points from Abel Szatko.
Bedford 62, Manchester Memorial 30
Logan O’Connell had 20 points to help lead the Bulldogs to their second win of the season over the Crusaders.
Ryan O’Rourke added eight points and 12 rebounds for Bedford, which also beat Memorial in the final of the Queen City Invitational Tournament last month.
Bishop Guertin 70, Spaulding 63
The Cardinals went on the road and picked up a win over the Red Raiders behind 29 points from Connor McGowan.
Brayden Crittenden led Spaulding with 23 points, including seven 3-pointers.
Kennett 50, Plymouth 30
The Eagles bounced back from their first loss of the season with a big win over the Bobcats.
Jayden Jackson scored 15 points to lead Kennett in the win, while Plymouth’s Isaac Benton was the game’s high scorer with 19 points.
