LACONIA – Sean O’Sullivan caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Carter Jones with three minutes left and the Laconia High School football team came back to beat Gilford 15-14 Thursday night.
The extra point by Sam Hogg gave the Sachems (1-1 in Division III) the lead and an interception by Jacob Tryon sealed the win for Laconia.
Tyron also had a 5-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter and completed a pass to Ryan Walsh for a two-point conversion that gave the Sachems an 8-0 lead.
Gilford (1-1) answered the score on its next possession, as Mark Uicker found Emmett Hughes for a 10-yard touchdown on fourth-and-6. Lukas Diaz ran in the two-point conversion to tie the game at 8.
The Golden Eagles opened the second half with a 10-play, 71-yard drive that took up 6 minutes and 38 seconds end ended with a 29-yard touchdown run by Diaz. But the junior running back was hurt on the play, and while he eventually returned, was out for the conversion, which the Sachems stopped.
