Around the Granite State: Londonderry boys lacrosse beats Merrimack for first win (video)

LONDONDERRY – The Londonderry High School boys lacrosse team started off a busy week on the right foot Monday, beating Merrimack 8-2 in a Division I contest.

Cam Brutus, Blake Thompson and Colby Walden (one assist) had two goals apiece to lead the Lancers (1-1, No. 9 NHHSSports Coaches Poll). Parker Lewis and Gavin MacIntosh added a goal a piece and Nathan Barrett finished with nine saves.

It was the first of four games this for the Lancers, as they’ll host Framingham (Mass.) on Wednesday, Central Catholic, of Lawrence, Mass., on Friday, and Nashua South on Friday. This game was originally scheduled to be played at Merrimack before being moved to Londonderry Middle School.

Henry Tobin had a goal for Merrimack (1-1, No. 10) and Mason Tremblay made 10 saves.

Manchester 7, Nashua North 6 (OT)

Brian Baumgardner scored in overtime to give the Kings a win over the Titans, their first of the season.

Talen Perron had four goals to lead Manchester (1-2) while Joey Valez and Trevor Wong also scored. Cam Velez made 12 saves in the win.

Caleb Smith and Patrick Shaw each scored for North (0-2) while Jack Krulikowski had six groundballs and Jace Colon had 10 saves.

Pelham 9, Laconia 8 (2OT)

The Pythons came back from a three-goal deficit to get the road win over the Sachems in double overtime.

Memphis Patterson had four goals to lead Pelham while Aiden Cote had two goals and Mason Frechette and Russell Leonard had a goal apiece.

Brody Rollins had two goals and three assists for Laconia and JP Harriman had three goals and an assist. Eli Nadeau had two goals and Sam Mize scored one, while Paul Ganchi and Brady Stevens each had an assist.

No. T3 Derryfield 22, Kennett 1

The Cougars picked up their second-straight road win by beating the Eagles.

Alex Murray led the way for Derryfield with five goals and three assists while Chili Cabot had three goals and three assists. Cooper Ketcham had four goals and Dom Cercone had two goals and two assists.

John Kramer (one assist) and Logan Dyer each had two goals while Ryan Maxwell had a goal and two assists. Brady Doldo, Max Fowler (one assist) and Jackson Hatfield each added a goal.

Parker Lebiedz, Liam England and Jaxon DeYoung each had a save while Logan Purvis, Dylan Clyne and Hatfield combined to win 18 of 24 faceoffs.

Bob Murphy had Kennett’s lone goal and Richie Vargus made 11 saves.

No. 1 Bishop Guertin 18, Salem 4

The Cardinals got goals from 10 players as they picked up a road win over the Blue Devils.

Sean McGarry had three goals and four assists, Brady Dumont had three goals and three assists, and Carter Jozokos also scored three times. Caleb Yeung and Owen King had two goals and two assists apiece and Jeremy Warren had a goal and an assist while Paulo Vazquez had three assists and Cam Hayden had two assists.

Alex Dumont, Logan Venne, Beau Dubois and Finn Moran each added a goal while Micah Dunsmoor, Hudson Schmitt and Sean Krauss each had an assist. Will Murphy and Michael MacDonough had three saves apiece.

No. 6 Portsmouth 14, Oyster River-Newmarket 7

Nick Smith had five goals and won 15 of 16 faceoffs to help lead the Clippers past the Bobcats.

Ben Purcell added four goals and an assist and Zac Amend had three goals and two assists for Portsmouth (3-0). Reilly Collins and Lucas Patten added a goal apiece while Masi Shone had two assists.

Briggs Catino added an assist and Kai Paterson made 10 saves in the win.

ORN (1-2) got three goals from Alex Moody and two from Ty Callander. Dee Tsakiris and Sawyer Levesque both added a goal and Cole Norris made 11 saves.

Plymouth 14, Milford 1

Tyler Descoteaux scored the lone goal for the Spartans in a home loss to the Bobcats.

Sylan MacLeod got an assist on the goal while Brennan Cassidy made 12 saves. Tyler Ireland and Simon MacFarlane played well defensively.

Campbell 15, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough 2

Andrew Willnus had four goals and two assists to lead the Cougars to the win over the Lakers.

Zach Hannah and Nathan Lencki had three goals apiece for Campbell (2-0) and Cruz Sandquist scored twice. Wyatt Tarr added a goal and two assists.

Lucas Craig won 13 of 14 faceoffs for the Cougars.

Bow 11, Lebanon 2

The Falcons outscored the Raiders 8-0 in the second half, with Gavin McCabe scoring four goals to lead the way to the win.

Nate Davis added two goals and two assists and Ryan McCabe scored twice and had a helper for Bow (2-1). Adam Auclair and Keenan Hubbard also contributed on offense while Luke Virta, Logan Rain and goalie Brad Ekstrom played well defensively.

Concord 9, Nashua South 5

Carter Doherty had seven goals and an assist to lead the Crimson Tide past the Panthers.

Will Chorlian added two goals while Jaden Haas dished out four assists and Tyler Morin had two more. Brayden Beauregard also had an assist and Logan Shimer played well in goal.

Girls Lacrosse

Timberlane 18, Spaulding 1

Maia Parker scored two goals, including the 100th of her high school career, as t he Owls knocked off the Red Raiders.

Parker also had two assists and three groundballs while Lily Brien scored three goals. Lila Fitzgerald (two groundballs, four draw controls), Ella Lampron (eight groundballs) and Anne Quinn (five draw controls) all had two goals apiece.

Ella Watts, Rylee Donahue and Sophie Doherty each had a goal and three groundballs while Ava Stewart, Jordyn Friel and Addie Conlan had a goal apiece. Bella Hughes made five saves for Timberlane.

Kate McCawley had the lone goal for Spaulding.

No. 5 Nashua South 15, Concord 8

Karina O’Donnell and Maren Lowell each had five goals and an assist to lead the Panthers to a road win over the Crimson Tide.

Saige Devins added two goals and two assists and Morgan Uzdanovich had two goals and an assist while Nevaeh Eppolito also scored for South (3-0). Keira Walsh had five saves while Audrey Mullaney, Abbey Benotti, Karina Santana, Nitzann Alkalay and Abby Herlihy played well defensively.

Derryfield 16, Lebanon 5

Maddy Paolino and Chloe Bremberg each had four goals and two draw controls to help lead the Cougars past the Raiders.

Lilly Handwerk added three goals and three caused turnovers while Alex Benson scored twice. Courtney Wold, Taylor Bradley and Teagan Peabody also had a goal apiece.

Bri Murray finished with eight draw controls and goalie Lily Kfoury made five saves.

No. 2 Bedford 13, No. 4 Pinkerton 11

The Astros got three goals and three assists from Hannah Lisauskas, but came up short against the Bulldogs.

Delaney Summers also scored three times for Pinkerton (1-3) while Bella Pinardi had two goals. Natalie Paradzick had a goal and an assist while Francesca Doyle and Sookie Folsom had a goal apiece.

Sara DiClemente made nine saves for the Astros.

Campbell 12, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough 4

The Cougars picked up the road win over the Lakers behind six goals from Ava Grant.

Maddie Cuvelier added three goals and an assist while Melina Girgis scored twice. Abby Guerette had a goal and an assist and Rania Chaudhry had a save percentage of 63.

Baseball

Hanover 5, ConVal 0

Alex Boone pitched a perfect game, striking out 12 and throwing 62 of 80 pitches for strikes, to lead the Bears to the win over the Cougars.

Boone also had three hits and Jackson McBride went 2 for 2 with two walks, a double, a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Finn Ware made a pair of great defensive plays at third base to help preserve the perfect game.
