Around the Granite State: Londonderry field hockey bests Goffstown (video)
Here are results from Wednesday’s high school sports action.
GOFFSTOWN – Alison Chambers scored twice and the Londonderry High School field hockey team picked up a 5-0 win Wednesday over Goffstown.
Sara Daniels added a goal and an assist for the Lancers (3-2) while Ava Windisch had two assists. Sienna Schulz and Lexi Padykula each had a goal and Lindsey McKinnon had an assist.
Molly Tharrington finished with eight saves for Londonderry while Molly Braica had 19 saves for the Grizzlies (1-4).
No. 4 Bishop Guertin 3, Salem 2 (OT)
Sophie Bilodeau had two goals and an assist, including her second-straight game-winning goal in OT, to help the Cardinals past the Blue Devils.
Maddie Harrington assisted on both of Bilodeau’s goals, while Sarah Brunelle also scored for Bishop Guertin (4-1). Ayla Saeturn had five saves while Jordan Gaebel, Carly Green, Addison Daddona and Gabby Gillette also played well.
Salem (2-2) got a goal apiece from Olivia Durkin and Lexi Whipple, while Ella Mosto assisted on both scores.
No. 2 Dover 4, No. 5 Pinkerton 2
Hannah Deroy had three goals and an assist for the Green Wave as they handed the Astros their first loss of the season.
Alexis Clough added a goal and an assist and Erin Lynch also had a helper for Dover (3-1). Scarlett Gray finished with four saves and Xen Pearlman played well defensively, while Lynch, Gaby Anderson and Leyden Churchill were solid in the midfield.
Cayden Madeiros and Ayvree Hamilton each had a goal for Pinkerton (3-1) while Fran Doyle and Meaghan Shea picked up assists. Molly Kuncik finished with nine saves and Jada Vasquez played well for the Astros.
No. 3 Keene 8, Timberlane 0
The Blackbirds took the lead early and never looked back in a road win over the Owls.
Olive Thatcher, Harper Zalaski and CeCe Walier each had two goals to lead Keene (4-0) while Makenna Nelson had a goal and an assist. Sofia Miller also scored while Lilly Vitters and Lola Ballaro had an assist apiece.
Merrimack 2, Portsmouth 0
The Tomahawks picked up their first win of the season on the road against the Clippers.
Ava Martin and Allie Wyand each had a goal for Merrimack (1-4) while Jackie Hayes played well at midfield.
The defense of Jocelyn Theriault, Liv Mitchell, Summer Dalbec Joyal, Morgan Bellemore and goalie Annabelle Cassetty helped limit Portsmouth to one shot on goal.
No. 7 Concord 2, Nashua South 0
The Panthers came up short on the road, despite getting 15 saves from Meury Navarette.
Emily Richard, Wylie Hart and Karina O’Donnell also played well for South.
No. 6 Winnacunnet 7, Manchester Memorial-Central 0
McKinle Fowler had three goals to lead the Warriors to the win.
Maddy Garrant also scored twice while Lyla Pearlo and Fiona McAfee each had goal and an assist.
No. 10 John Stark 6, Lebanon 2
Jillian Fredette scored two goals, including the 100th point of her high school career, as the Generals knocked off the Raiders.
Claudia Duston scored a goal and had an assist while Paityn Niquette, Caylin Worthen, and Lyla Raymond each had a goal for John Stark (4-0). Ava Friberg added two assists while Adie Bolduc and Zoe Lawson each had an assist.
Rowin Ledy and Sage Lambert (eight saves) split time in goal for John Stark.
Plymouth 1, Pelham 0
Amelia Avery scored the game’s only goal to give the Bobcats a win over the Pythons.
Avery scored on a penalty corner five minutes into the game, tipping in a shot by Lucia Sakin.
Kearsarge 5, Monadnock 0
Tori Wooten had a goal and two assists to help the Cougars to the win over the Huskies.
Adella Monnatt added a goal and an assist for Kearsarge (2-1) while Raegan Billado, Stella Syversten and Payton MacMichael each scored a goal.
Luna Landers, Paige Scott and Haley Deegan combined to make six saves.
Girls Volleyball
Trinity 3, Portsmouth Christian o
The Eagles were swept by the Pioneers by scores of 25-23, 26-24 and 25-21.
Quinn Arico had seven kills, four aces and seven digs to lead PCA (2-1) while Heidi Geyer had seven kills and six digs. Lexi Jordan recorded eight assists and Emma Eisner finished with nine digs.
Arico was also recently named the MaxPerps/AVCA NH Player of the Week for games Sept. 2-6.
