Around the Granite State: McCarthy gets 1K point in Bedford girls basketball win

LONDONDERRY – Lana McCarthy scored 21 points, including the 1,000 of her high school career, and helped Bedford get a 64-71 win Wednesday over LaSalle Academy of Providence in the Lady Lancers Holiday Basketball Tournament.

McCarthy also grabbed her 700th career rebound for the Bulldogs while Kate Allard added 14 points. Sarah Muir and Lyla Stein had nine and eight points, respectively, in the win.

Elle Kershaw led LaSalle with six points and Lucia DelPonte added five.

Bedford will face Barrington (R.I.) on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Londonderry High School while LaSalle will take on Concord Christian.

Bishop Feehan 67, Pinkerton 64

The Astros overcame a 13-point deficit to come back and take the lead late, but the Shamrocks, from Attleboro, Mass., rallied in the final minute for the win at the Lady Lancers Holiday Basketball Tournament.

Elizabeth Lavoie had 15 points and seven rebounds for Pinkerton while Alexandria White had 14 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Sydney Gerossie added 10 points and nine assists and Brooke Benz recorded eight points and four rebounds.

Pelham 46, Manchester Memorial 44

The Crusaders came up short against the Pythons on the first day of the Doug Chandler Holiday Basketball Tournament at Manchester Central.

Torle Adumene led Memorial with 14 points and six rebounds and Jocelyn Eosue added 12 points and six boards. NyAsia McKelvey had a double double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Memorial will take on Trinity at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Boys Basketball

Alvirne 75, Lowell Catholic 62

The Broncos knocked off the host team in the final game of the first day of the Holiday Hoop Classic at LC.

Garrett Hall led the way with 27 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks and Aiden Mills added 11 points and five steals.

Alvirne will take on Waltham (Mass.) at 7 p.m. on Friday at Lowell Catholic.
