Around the Granite State: Merrimack boys lacrosse bounces back to beat Keene-Monadnock (video)

MERRIMACK – The Merrimack High School boys lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead Tuesday and never looked back in a 15-1 win over Keene-Monadnock.

Cayden Dine had four goals and an assist and Shea Scott scored three goals and had three assists for the Tomahawks (3-1, No. 8 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll), who bounced back from their first loss of the season last Friday at Pinkerton.

Gabe Gorman added a goal and three assists while Sean Anderson and Josh Kahn had two goals and an assist apiece. Austin Kovaliv had a goal and two assists while Gavin Hickey and Reid Guidish each chipped in with a goal.

Mason Trembley recorded 17 saves to get the win while Guidish did well on faceoffs and Tanner Kush played well defensively in his first start.

Grady Erickson had the lone goal for the Blackbirds (1-2) while Tanner Thompson made 11 saves.

Souhegan 13, Merrimack Valley 5

The Sabers scored five goals in the first quarter on the way to a win over the Pride.

Freshman Jud Harris had seven goals and an assist to lead Souhegan (1-2) while Nate Hill had three goals and two assists and Owen Mobley had a goal, his first on varsity, and three assists.

Mason Mobley added a goal and an assist and Collin Yeaton also scored his first varsity goal. Sean Reardon finished with eight saves for the Sabers.

Merrimack Valley (0-3) got three goals and an assist from Colin Reardon while Carter Dominico and Nate Wallace had a goal apiece. Adrian Buss made eight saves.

Girls Lacrosse

Belmont 7, ConVal 6

The Red Raiders rallied from a two-goal deficit at halftime to beat the Cougars and win their first game since in almost seven years.

Shelby Mason played well in goal for Belmont (1-2), coming up with a save in the final seconds that kept the Red Raiders in front. Reese Paquette and Morgan Schofield played well defensively.

Brooke Varnum and Madi McClennan did all the scoring for Belmont while Lexie Carr, Gabby Murphy, Mia Kennison, Daylan Henry and Augusta Provencale played well at midfield. Brooke Murphy and Ava Damon contribute on attack.

The win is the first for Belmont since May 15, 2019, and snapped a 33-game winless streak. That includes seven forfeit losses in 2022 when the Red Raiders couldn’t field a full team late in the season; Belmont also didn’t have a varsity team in 2021 and from 2023-24.

Pelham 17, Pembroke 5 (Monday)

Ella DeSimone scored five goals, including the 200th goal of her high school career, as the Pythons beat the Spartans for their first win of the year.

DeSimone also had an assist while Isabella Santolucito added four goals and Jessica Phillips had two goals and two assists. Julianne Rocha also scored twice and had an assist and Jillian Bistany recorded a goal and an assist.

Makenzie Comtois, Mia Wilkins and Lyla Prince added a goal apiece and Emma Bowlan made five saves.
