Around the Granite State: Merrimack boys lacrosse ends regular season with win over Manchester
Here are results from Wednesday’s high school sports action.
MANCHESTER – Sean Anderson and Max Giles each had three goals and two assists as the Merrimack High School boys lacrosse team wrapped up the regular season with a 9-4 win Wednesday night against Manchester.
Peyton Connelly added two goals for the Tomahawks (11-6, No. 9 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) while Henry Tobin added a goal and an assist. The win total is a program record for Merrimack in the regular season.
Hudson Rousseau, Gabe Gorman and Cayden Dine added an assist apiece for Merrimack and Mason Tremblay finished with 13 saves. Logan Melendy made his first varsity start on defense and played well.
The Kings (3-13) got three goals from Brady Harrison and Kamden Osborne also had a goal. Brandon Weaver added an assist and Cam Roberge finished with 15 saves.
Dover 15, Salem 12
The Green Wave got out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter and led the entire way to beat the Blue Devils and clinch a playoff spot.
Cooper Ketcham led the way with four goals and five assists while Logan Carter and Tobey Desroches each had five goals for Dover (8-10).
Parker Ketcham added three assists and Geffin Adorian recorded two assists while Sylas Brown had a goal and Kyle Behan had a helper. Danny Bretz made 18 saves.
Kearsarge 14, Milford 2
The Spartans got a goal and an assist apiece from Dylan McLeod and Mitch Broadhurst in a loss to the Cougars.
Rocco Bartling recorded 18 saves, giving the freshman 142 for the season.
No. 3 Pinkerton 19, Nashua North 2
Jeff Gormady led the way for the Astros, scoring six goals to go with an assist in the win over the Titans.
Kyle Ushkevich had three goals and two assists and Ben Quintiliani added three goals and an assist for Pinkerton (13-4). Tyler Pinardi also scored twice and teamed with Dylan Stingel and Aiden Jones to dominate on faceoffs.
Brendan Carney, Jackson Chase and Caleb Hobden played well defensively while Gavin Burwell and Landon O’Donell split time in goal.
North got two goals from Dylan Noble while Nick Wilkinson had an assist and Josh Parsons made 16 saves.
Windham 9, Nashua South 8 (Tuesday)
Josh Trudel scored four goals to help the Jaguars wrap up their first season in Division I.
Corey Wickman added two scores for Windham and Anthony Shit finished with 13 saves.
Concord 10, No. 7 Londonderry 7
The Lancers fell on the road to the Crimson Tide despite getting a goal and four assists from Colby Walden.
Owen Huard added two goals and an assist and Brody Campbell scored twice for the Lancers (10-6). Odin Delorey had a goal and an assist while Trey Campbell had a goal and Parker Lewis had an assist.
Andrew Cote played well defensively for the Lancers and Broch St. Gelais made five saves.
Girls Lacrosse
No. 4 Exeter 8, No. 5 Bishop Guertin 7
The Blue Hawks were down 7-5 going into the fourth quarter but came back to get their first win over the Cardinals since 2015.
Phoebe Christenson had two goals and three assists and Hailey O’Kane scored three goals to lead Exeter (13-4). Riley Benevides added two goals while Claire Wilhelm had a goal and Karli Scherpf had an assist.
Molly Byrne finished with nine saves for the Blue Hawks.
No. 3 Souhegan 17, No. 8 Bedford 12
Lanai Hickman scored eight goals to go with three assists and three groundballs to help lead the Sabers to their first win over the Bulldogs since 2018.
Izzy Stevenson added three goals, three assists, four caused turnovers, two groundballs and six draw controls and Libby Kennedy had four goals, two caused turnovers and four draw controls for Souhegan (10-3). Abby Giannetti also scored twice and Emma Crisman finished with four saves.
Natalie Heimarck, Marley Bacon, Sophie Jacons, Emmie Curran and Meredith Heimarck also played well for the Sabers.
Goffstown 13, Kingswood 10
Mia Brissette scored six goals and had four draw controls to help lead the Grizzlies to a road win over the Knights.
Trinity Lunn added three goals and three draw controls and Peyton Duff scored twice and had an assist for Goffstown. Lili Connor and Leija Hodzic had a goal apiece while Ella Coletti had two assists and five draw controls.
Dover 10, Salem 8
The Blue Devils came up short in a road game against the Green Wave despite getting four goals from Katie Wood.
Emily Young added two goals for Salem and Grace Hoover and Amelia Murray had a goal apiece. Zeynep Yildirim finished with nine saves.
No. 7 Nashua South 15, Windham 9
Maren Lowell scored six goals and had an assist for the Panthers in their second win this season against the Jaguars.
Karina O’Donnell added three goals and two assists and Saige Devins had three goals and an assist for South (13-4). Carly Benzekri recorded two goals and an assist and Addie Borden also scored.
Lilee Petricca made three saves while Nevaeh Eppolito, Karina Santana, Lexi McGuire, Nitzann Alkalay and Maddie Langer played well defensively.
No. 2 Pinkerton 21, Nashua North 1
Hannah Lisauskas had three goals and seven assists to help the Astros to the win over the Titans.
Delaney Summers also had three goals to go with two assists while Melyana Mara had three goals for the Astros (14-3). Bella Petralia scored two goals and had an assist and Ellie Henry had a goal and two assists.
Lexi Last and Rylee Robinson scored two goals apiece while Ava Michelinie, Sookie Folsom and Anna Perkins had a goal and an assist apiece. Elise Collins and Ashley Clothier finished with a goal apiece.
Sara DiClemente recorded two saves for the Astros.
St. Thomas 22, Pembroke 2
A total of 14 players had a goal for the Saints, with Lizzy Holden and Charlotte De Tolla recording three apiece.
Julia Bryan, Reece Anderson, Izzy Taylor and Talula Gregg scored two goals apiece for St. Thomas while Maia Scanlon, Vanessa Williams, Payton Baker, Lucy Broom, Corinne Connelly, Ava Goodwin, Kensley Harris and Ava Lader each had a goal.
Chloe Baker finished with four saves for St. Thomas (14-1) while Lyder and Lena Shaheen played well defensively. Gregg also recorded her hundredth career draw control.
Keene-Monadnock 16, Spaulding 6
The Red Raiders fell on the road to the Blackbirds despite getting four goals from Sarah Lin.
Rachel Baughman and Payton Bromil had a goal apiece for Spaulding and Izzy Orrell finished with 22 saves.
Timberlane 16, Manchester Memorial 3 (Tuesday)
Ella Lampron (two assists) and Lulu Trasetti (one assist) each scored three goals to help the Owls to the win over the Crusaders.
Aubrey Fitzgerald and Lila Fitzgerald each had two goals for Timberlane (10-5) while Ella Watts and Julia Johnson had a goal and an assist apiece. Ava Paul, Mia Morrier, Tatenda Chanakira and Alexa Ring also scored.
Kayla Apitz finished with two saves while Emma Norcott, Sophie Doherty, Mackenzie Norcott and Brooke Stasio played well defensively.
Boys Volleyball
Dover 3, Hollis Brookline 0
The Cavaliers dropped a close match to the Green Wave. Game scorers were 25-22, 25-23 and 25-23.
Ethan Norris had 19 kills and Sam Hersey finished with 25 assists. Tyler Wu also had a solid game defensively.
