Around the Granite State: Merrimack field hockey gets win over Nashua South
Here are highlights from Wednesday’s high school sports action.
NASHUA – Ava Martin scored three goals and had an assist to lead the Merrimack High School field hockey team to a 5-0 win Wednesday over Nashua South.
Mia Flores and Allie Wyand added a goal apiece for the Tomahawks (2-6) while Annabelle Cassetty finished with five saves.
South (2-7) got 11 saves from Meury Navarette while Karina O’Donnell, Molly Mullaney, Ava Dergarabedian and Wylie Hart played well.
No. 1 Keene 3, Salem 1
Olive Thatcher had a goal and an assist to help the Blackbirds to a road win over the Blue Devils.
Maddie Boudle and Sophia Miller added a goal apiece while Scarlett Miller and Ella Rice each had an assist for Keene (9-0).
Salem (3-6) got its goal from Emily Young while Ella Mosto had an assist. Averie Bolduc played well defensively.
No. 4 Dover 2, No. 2 Bedford 1
Giana Leonardi scored two goals as the Green Wave picked up a win over the Bulldogs.
Erin Lynch and Hannah Deroy each had an assist for Dover (8-1-1). Scarlett Gray finished with five saves and Kaela Robins also played well.
No. 3 Exeter 5, Timberlane 0
The Blue Hawks had 18 penalty corners and scored four goals in the second half to knock off the Owls.
Lilly Clark finished with 15 saves for Timberlane (4-5).
No. 9 Concord 4, Manchester Memorial-Central 0
Ally McGonigle had two goals and the Crimson Tide shut out Manchester.
Lilly Merrill also had a goal for Concord (7-2) and Anya Kendziora scored her first goal of the season.
Girls Volleyball
Portsmouth Christian 3, Raymond 0
The Eagles grabbed a sweep of the Rams by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-22.
Quinn Arico led the way with 11 kills, five aces, seven assists and seven digs. Heidi Geyer added seven kills and Lexi Jordan had seven assists and four aces.
Maycie Andress and Lily Druge each had two aces while Emma Eisner had 12 digs and Marion Spurr had four digs.
