Around the Granite State: Merrimack field hockey shuts out Goffstown (video)
Here are results from Wednesday’s high school sports action.
MERRIMACK – Jackie Hayes had a goal and an assist to help lead the Merrimack High School field hockey team to a 3-0 win Wednesday over Goffstown.
Jocelyn Theriault and Kyleigh Parella also scored for the Tomahawks (7-7-1), who have won five of their last six games, all by shutouts. Josephine Swisher also had an assist in the win and Annabelle Cassetty had four saves.
Goffstown (4-10-1) got 13 saves from Hope Moulton.
No. 7 Dover 3, Nashua South 0
Hannah Calhoun was one of three goal scorers, netting her goal on a penalty stroke, to help the Green Wave get past the Panthers.
Hannah Deroy and Autumn Bernier also scored for Dover (9-4-1, No. 7 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll).
Meury Navarrete finsihed with 15 saves for South (3-12) and Meenu Dwaraka came up big on defense, recorded a defensive save. Wylie Hart, Keegan Dolan and Emme Christian also played well for the Panthers.
No. 8 Oyster River 2, Hanover 1
The Bobcats picked up the road win over the Bears, getting two goals from Eliza Farwell, including her 100th career point.
Natalie Buck and Rowynn Pickering each had an assist for Oyster River (11-2).
No. 2 Londonderry 1, Concord 0
Alison Chambers scored the game’s only goal to life the Lancers over the Crimson Tide.
Lindsey McKinnon had an assist on the goal, which came on a penalty corner for Londonderry (12-2). Molly Tharrington finished four saves in the win.
Windham 6, Manchester 0
Abbie Petrini recorded three goals for the Jaguars as they picked up a win over the Kings.
Rowan Bomba also scored twice and Jaidyn Seitzer added a goal for Windham (6-8-1). Lyla Filadoro played well in the win.
No. 4 Pinkerton 5, Salem 0
Catherin Madeiros had three goals to help lead the Astros to the win over the Blue Devils.
Gwen Lee had a goal and an assist and Brynn McKenna also scored for Pinkerton (10-4). Jordyn Schreiber also had an assist and played well in the midfield.
Catherin Terrile, Kara McIntryre, Lyla Norian and Ayvree Hamilton played well defensively in the win.
No. 1 Bedford 2, Timberlane 0
Ella Putney had a goal and an assist to help the Bulldogs get a road win over the Owls.
Mary Lenti also scored for Bedford (12-1-1) and Teagan O’Donnell picked up an assist in the win.
Girls Volleyball
Portsmouth Christian 3, Nute 0
The Eagles swept the Rams, with game scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-16.
Bea Monahan had nine kills, two aces and seven digs and Lexi Jordan had 24 assists and six aces for PCA (4-7). Dylan Anderson recorded nine kills and one block while Lauryn Flynn had four kills and five digs.
Lily Druge added five aces and Marion Spurr had 15 digs in the win.
Hollis Brookline 3, Merrimack 2
The Cavaliers battled back to get a win over the Tomahawks. Scores were 25-20, 18-25, 21-25, 26-24 and 15-2.
Nicole Kosakowski had nine kills and four aces for HB (4-8) and Shelby Klaassens had eight kills and three blocks. Max Walsh had nine aces and 28 assists and Hailey Klaassens had eight kills.
