Around the Granite State: Nashua North boys lacrosse beats Salem in OT (video)

NASHUA – Gavin Dungan scored just 32 seconds into overtime Tuesday night to give the Nashua High School North boys lacrosse team a 14-13 win over Salem.

Dungan had two goals and two assists while Nick Wilkinson had five goals and Dylan Noble had three goals and an assist, including the game-tying goal with 6:55 remaining in regulation for the Titans (4-10).

Jared Gauthier added two goals and two assists and Nico Bottari also scored twice and had an assist. Jos Parson made 19 saves and Dungan and Jake Homsy combined to go 21 of 29 on faceoffs.

The Blue Devils (1-13) got four goals and an assist from Henry Griffin while Kyle Bonarigo had three goals and two assists and Cole Whittaker also scored three goals. Arthur Chase had three assists while Colin Salkovitz and Kaden Alsup each had a goal and an assist.

Trevor O’Brien had a goal and Thomas Griffin finished with four saves for Salem.

North got out in front early and led 7-3 with 2:50 remaining in the first half, but Salem got two quick goals to make it a two-goal game at halftime. The Blue Devils scored three straight goals in the first 2:29 of the third quarter to take an 8-7 lead.

The teams were tied 10-10 going into the fourth but Salem went on another 3-0 run in the first 2:40 of the fourth. North came back, getting back-to-back goals just 15 seconds apart to make it 13-12, and then Noble’s goal less than two minutes later tied it at 13.

Both teams had a chance to win in the final minute, but the Blue Devils turned the ball over with 31.1 seconds left. The Titans took a timeout with 18.2 seconds remaining and got a pair of shots off, leaving 2.9 seconds to go.

But on the second shot attempt, Salem’s John Vargas was called for a crosscheck, giving North a manup opportunity for a minute. Wilkinson held the ball as regulation ran out to give the Titans possession to start overtime, leading to Dungan’s game-winner.

Bishop Brady 14, Kennett 7

Ryan Haught had eight goals and an assist to lead the Giants to a win over the Eagles.

Joey Richardson added five goals and an assist for Bishop Brady (6-5) while Jon Lazear chipped in with a goal. Ray Weatherbee finished with 22 saves in the win.

Laconia 8, Milford 4

Rocco Bartling made 16 saves for the Spartans, but the Sachems were able to pull out the win.

Dylan MacLeod scored two goals and had an assist and Bentley Bowers had a goal and an assist for Milford (3-10). Josh Clark also had a goal and Chris Bozza recorded an assist.

Girls Lacrosse

No. 9 Timberlane 11, Salem 1

The Owls got the win over the Blue Devils in a game that was called in the second half due to thunderstorms.

Rylee Donahue led Timberlane (11-1) with three goals, two assists and six draw controls while Lila Fitzgerald had three goals and three caused turnovers and Julia Johnson added a goal, two assists and two caused turnovers.

Ava Paul (two caused turnovers), Grace Gerhard (two groundballs), Alexa Ring (two draw controls) and Aubrey Fitzgerald had a goal apiece. Elle Sarcione, Mackenzie Laschi, Hannah Ahern and Mackinzie Nortcott also played well and Kayla Apitz made three saves.

Bow 17, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough 3

The Lakers got three goals from Aubrey Bresse in a loss to the Falcons.

Alyssa Snow had two assists and Tessa McCallum had one helper for ILMA (3-9).

Salem 14, Nashua North 8 (Monday)

Katie Wood had six goals to lead the Blue Devils to a win over the Titans.

Morgann Raskow added three goals and Brianna Messina had two scores for Salem (3-11). Gabby Clarke, Althea Schaefer and Nicole Ringdahl scored a goal apiece while Olivia Schoenrock made 18 saves.
