Around the Granite State: Nashua South girls basketball cruises past Merrimack
Here are results from Tuesday’s high school basketball action.
NASHUA – Four players were in double figures Tuesday for the Nashua High School South girls basketball team as the Panthers cruised to a 61-24 win over Merrimack.
Nicole De Jesus led South (6-5 in Division I) with 20 points, including two 3-pointers, while Addie Borden also had two 3s and 12 points and Lexi McGuire had four 3s for 12 points.
Karina O’Donnell added 10 points, with two 3s, and as a team, the Panthers finished with 11 3-pointers and were 6 of 8 at the free throw line.
Merrimack (1-9) got 11 points from Meghan McCarthy, as the freshman made three 3-pointers, while Avary Cruz had five points.
Bedford 65, Windham 40
The Bulldogs improved to 11-0 in D1 this season by handing the Jaguars (8-1) their first loss of the season.
Kate Allard had 20 points to lead Bedford and Mel McCarthy added 18 points while Sarah Muir finished with 16 points.
Windham got 20 points from Meghan Husson, as she made three 3s, and Rileigh Finneran had nine points.
Pinkerton 91, Trinity 56
Sydney Gerossie scored the 1,000th point of her high school career as the senior helped lead the Astros to a win over the Pioneers.
Gerossie finished with 25 points, including four 3s, and Brooke Benz added 18 points for Pinkerton (10-1). Emily Leonard hit two 3-pointers and finished with 10 points while Mia Marshall, Taya Brown, Kaylee Dupuis and Hayden Lecesse each had nine points.
Goffstown 54, Keene 50
The Grizzlies picked up their second win in a row while handing the Blackbirds their fourth straight loss.
Morghan Dodge led Goffstown (3-7) with 18 points while Meredith Winterburn had 16 points and Reece Still recorded 12 markers.
McKenna Nelson had 17 points for Keene (5-5) and Harper Zalaski chipped in with 14 points.
Winnacunnet 68, Concord 37
Kaila Roy and Ari Bennett were both in double figures to help lead the Warriors past the Crimson Tide.
Roy finished with 31 points, including five 3-pointers, while Bennett had 19 points and hit four 3s. Colette Le and Izabel Turcotte each had eight points for Winnacunnet (2-8), which led from start to finish.
Nashua North 39, Portsmouth 32
The Titans won their fourth in a row thanks to a solid defensive performance against the Clippers.
Aidan Walker led North (6-4) with 14 points, eight defensive rebounds and four steals, while Lily Small played well defensively. Madeline Tino also had 14 points for the Titans.
Portsmouth (7-4) got 12 points from Bridget Emery while Aundrea Ingram added six points.
Bishop Guertin 47, Salem 43
The Cardinals led by one at halftime and outscored the Blue Devils in the third quarter to take the win.
Holly Dufoe led Bishop Guertin (7-3) with 17 points, including five of the team’s eight 3-pointers. Thalia Drapeau, Maddi Long and Maggie Gallagher each added seven points in the win.
Salem (7-4) got 14 points, with four 3s, from Nicole Ringdahl while Lilly George finished with 12 points and Lindsay Goetz added 10 points.
Oyster River 59, Plymouth 15
The Bobcats won their second in a row by blowing past the Bobcats.
Vivian O’Quinn led the way for Oyster River (8-2) with 23 points and Olivia Andersen was also in double figures with 13 points. Wren Horne chipped in six points for the Bobcats.
Souhegan 40, Hollis Brookline 37
The Sabers trailed 21-14 at halftime before rallying past the Cavaliers for the win.
Tess Jancar led the way with 11 points while Zofia Rosenfield had 1o points and 11 rebounds for a double double.
John Stark 50, Hanover 38
The Generals picked up a road win against the Bears.
Alexis Korbet led the way for John Stark, as she scored 16 points, while Kylie Dinan added 15 points. Haley Stafford added 12 points for the Generals.
Boys Basketball
Belmont 69, Gilford 43
Treyshawn Ray had a huge night in helping the Red Raiders to their second win over their rivals.
Ray finished 37 points to lead Belmont (12-1 in D3) while Keegan Martinez added some 14 and Anakin Underhill had eight markers.
St. Thomas 66, Prospect Mountain 46
The Saints rolled to a win on the road against the Timberwolves.
Cole McClure led St. Thomas with 33 points while Fin De Tolla added 13 points for St.Thomas (9-2).
