Around the Granite State: Nashua South girls lacrosse picks up win over Concord

Maren Lowell and Karina O’Donnell each had three goals to help the Nashua High School South girls lacrosse team to an 11-6 win Wednesday on the road against Concord.

Lowell added two assists and O’Donnell had one helper and seven draw controls while Saige Devins and Carly Benzekri each had two goals for the Panthers (3-1, No. 7 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll).

Briley Landsteiner added a goal and Wylie Hart had two assists while Lilee Petricca made five saves.

No. 8 Merrimack 14, Timberlane 13

Sophia Richard made nine saves, including one in the final minute to help the Tomahawks preserve the win over the Owls.

Peyton Trepaney had five goals and four groundballs for Merrimack (4-0) and Jackie Hayes added four goals, two assists and four groundballs.

Riley Taylor added three goals, 14 draw controls and six groundballs while Brooklynn Hilyard and Lexi Bell had a goal apiece. Ava Martin added eight draw controls and four groundballs and Lyla Carls had two groundballs.

Timberlane (2-2) got 11 saves from goalie Kayla Apitz while Julia Johnson had five goals and two draw controls. Aubrey Fitzgerald adedd three goals, one assist and two groundballs and Lulu Trasatti also had three goals and two groundballs.

Ella Watts and Ava Paul added a goal apiece and Mia Morrier had an assist and two groundballs. Ella Lampron had three groundballs and five draw controls.

No. 4 Pinkerton 12, Andover 9 

The Astros led by one at halftime and pulled away in the second half for a win over the Warriors.

Francesca Doyle and Delaney Summers each had four goals and an assist while Hannah Lisauskas had two goals and two assists.

Sookie Folsom added two goals for Pinkerton (3-1) and Sara DiClemente had six saves.

Spaulding 12, Alvirne 8

The Red Raiders picked up their first win of the season, getting 10 saves from goalie Izzy Orrell.

Rachel Baughman, Aivah Helton and Sarah Lin had three goals apiece for Spaulding. Sydney Cormier, Haley Brackett and Payton Boumel each added a goal.

Cadence Bice led Alvirne with three goals while Alanna Tardiff and Audrienna Chipperini had two goals apiece. Adrianna Reilly also had a goal and Fiona Duggan made 15 saves.

St. Thomas 16, Bow 8

Lizzy Holden had five goals and Charlotte De Tolla added four to lead the Saints past the Falcons.

Talula Gregg and Kensley Harris each had two goals for St. Thomas while Reece Anderson, Izzy Taylor and Julia Bryan scored a goal apiece.

Chloe Baker finished with five saves and Ava Lyder and Lena Shaheen played well defensively.

Coe-Brown 15, Kearsarge 3

The Bears trailed 3-1 at the end of the first quarter, but controlled the rest of the game on a way to a win over the Cougars.

Avery Keefe and Ellie Escabi had three goals a piece and Natalie George and Carolyn Clawson had two goals and an assist each to lead Coe-Brown (1-1).

Addison Roy and Brooke Kozlowski had a goal and two assists apiece while Alexis Thomas, Kenzie Silva and Lilly Peabody each had a goal. Morgan Readel recorded two assists.

Alexis Muse played well in goal and Ady Moynihan was strong defensively for the Bears.

Kearsarge (2-1) got goals from Ociee Ilg, Addi Rossi and Lilly Chapman.

Oyster River-Newmarket 9, Goffstown 8 (OT)

Grace Royal scored the game-winning goal in over time to give the Bobcats the win over the Grizzlies.

Boys Lacrosse

No. 10 Winnacunnet 17, Dover 9

Beckett Rath scored six goals and had two assists to lead the Warriors to the win over the Green Wave.

Alec Mitchell added three goals and won 80 percent of the faceoffs while Brian McCown had three goals and three assists and Liam McNally had three goals and two assists.

Spencer Ziger recorded a goal and had two assists while Hale Dodier also had a goal for Winnacunnet. (4-1).

Dover (2-3) got four goals from Tobey Desroches while Ben Tower scored twice. Parker Ketcham had a goal and four assists and Cooper Ketcham had a goal and three assists.

Logan Carter added a goal for the Green Wave and Danny Bretz made 14 saves.

Salem 12, Nashua North 8

Dylan Noble scored five goals but the Titans came up short against the Blue Devils.

Nico Bottari added an assist for North and Jack Krulikowski had four groundballs.

Bow 13, John Stark 1

Brad Ekstrom had five saves for the Falcons, including the 300th of his career, as the junior helped his team knock off the Generals.

Wyatt Premo had four goals and an assist as Bow broke the game open in the third quarter. Kian O’Leary added three goals and an assist while Niko Mallios and Rowan Schlosser each had two goals and an assist.

Devin St. Cyr and Jake Antuna each had a goal, with St. Cyr also adding and assist and Antuna going 11 of 13 on faceoffs with seven groundballs. Sam Bennett and Adam Auclair had two assists apiece while Keenan Hubbard and Brendan O’Keefe each had one helper.

Coe-Brown 13, Laconia 5

The Sachems had a 4-2 lead after one quarter, but couldn’t hold on against the Bears.

Eli Nadeau had four goals for Laconia while Brady Stevens had a goal and an assist. Stephen Mingo-Timmins played well in goal, keeping the Sachems in the game.

Coe-Brown got six goals and an assist from Sam Frye while Gil Bean added four goals.

Hollis Brookline 14, Kingswood 4

JP and Bennett Torgersen each had four goals and an assist to lead the Cavaliers past the Knights.

Sam Petrella added three goals and an assist and Noah Taylor had four assists. Mike O’Hearn and Colin Magnuszewski each added a goal.

Levi Mitchell recorded eight saves while Tyler Allen played well defensively and Mason Acheson won 11 faceoffs.

Souhegan 9, Pembroke 6

Ayden McGrath scored four goals to lead the Sabers past the Spartans.

McGrath had three of his goals in the third quarter, as a 4-0 Souhegan run helped it take the lead and the Sabers held off Pembroke in the fourth.

Matt Mullin added two goals and two assists and Brendan Silva had a goal and two assists while Muse Cross-Swartzell and Chase Wilmot added a goal apiece.

Sean Reardon had nine saves for Souhegan (2-3).

Gabriel Johnson had two goals and an assist for Pembroke and Chase Boggs added two goals. Luke Hanson and Jackson Olisky had a goal apiece and Lazlo Cloutier made 10 saves.

Timberlane 10, No. 9 St. Thomas 9

Rocco Psareas had four goals and an assist to lead the Owls to a win over the Saints.

Landon Petry added three goals and an assist while Cam Bonfiglio and Gio Recesso each had a goal and an assist. Gavin Dubois also had a goal and Joseph Cruz had an assist for Timberlane (4-0).

Mark St. Jean won eight faceoffs and Joseph Hughes made 22 saves while the Owls’ defense forced 26 turnovers.

Merrimack Valley 7, Hanover 5

Conner Hanson had three goals and Tyler Carter added two goals and two assists to lead the Pride past the Bears.

Jake Demers and Matt Lauren added a goal and an assist apiece while Mike Heine scooped up seven groundballs.

Mike Kingsbury finished with 22 saves and Carter Lankhorst recorded 10 faceoff wins.

Longmeadow (Mass.) 15, No. 2 Bedford 9

The Bulldogs dropped their second game of the season to an out-of-state opponent, falling to the Lancers at home.

Brody Helton had three goals and an assist and Evan Capello added two goals and two assists for Bedford (3-2). Luke Purnell had two goals and an assist and Bennett Matthews recorded a goal and an assist.

Bryce D’Urso also had a goal and John Purnell added an assist while Ethan Conn made 18 saves.

Longmeadow got six goals and two assists from Colin Mulderig while Myles Chapman (one assist) and Max Zichittella had three goals apiece.

Josh Ciaglo had two goals and an assist while Nick DeAngelis-Gray had a goal and Kyle O’Connor had an assist. Leigh Chapman made seven saves.

Boys Volleyball

Hollis Brookline 3, Salem 0

The Cavaliers improved to 4-0 on the year with a sweep of the Blue Devils. Game scores were 25-19, 28-26 and 25-20.

Ethan Norris led the way for HB with 23 kills while Jameson Evelyn had five kills and five aces. James Kelley added seven kills and Sam Hersey recorded 34 assists.

Boys Tennis

Exeter 9, Manchester Memorial 0

The Blue Hawks rolled to a sweep of the Crusaders, winning all six singles matches by a score of 8-0.

Oliver Berardino, Owen Russell, Coco Pazourek, Pavel Pazourek, Michael Burke and Nick Rosa each won their singles matches.

Jamie Dunham and Will Rich teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles while Ethan LaNigra and Liam McLynch had an 8-1 win at No. 2 and Cameron Massicotte and Chase Jumper won 8-1 at No. 3.

Baseball

Exeter 5, Salem 4

The Blue Hawks rallied from a 4-1 deficit, scoring once each in the fifth and sixth innings, and then twice in the bottom of the seventh, to beat the Blue Devils.

Finn Adams was 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI for Exeter while Mike Caron, Jack Dever and Kyle Morgado added an RBI apiece. Morgado and Caron also scored a run each.

Ethan Battles pitched six innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts. John Bakker pitched a clean seventh with one strikeout.
