Around the Granite State: O’Kane’s OT goal gives Exeter girls lacrosse win (video)

LONDONDERRY – Hailey O’Kane scored 34 seconds into overtime to give the Exeter High School girls lacrosse team a 12-11 win Wednesday over Londonderry.

The goal was O’Kane’s eighth of the game while Phoebe Christenson had two goals and an assist for the Blue Hawks (10-3, No. 4 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll).

Grace McIlroy (one assist) and Anna Lieberman also had a goal a piece and Molly Byrne made five saves.

Londonderry (3-6) got six goals and an assist from Eres Delorey while Summer Butler and Annabelle Melia each had two goals. Cora Rogers also scored for the Lancers and Jayden Sherwood finished with seven saves.

No. 10 St. Thomas 11, Gilford 9

Charlotte De Tolla had four goals to help the Saints win a rematch of last year’s Division III championship game against the Golden Eagles.

Kensley Harris and Lizzy Holden each had three goals for St. Thomas (9-1) while Talula Gregg also had a goal. Lena Shaheen and Ava Lyder played well defensively and Chloe Baker made 10 saves in goal.

Campbell 18, Belmont 7

Ava Grant scored six goals and had three assists for the Cougars as they picked up a win over the Red Raiders.

Zoe Bourgue added five goals and five assists and Melina Gingras scored three times and had two assists for Campbell (3-3). Abby Guerette chipped in two goals and two assists and Rania Chaudhry had a save percentage of 53.

No. 9 Nashua South 18, Windham 6

Maren Lowell had six goals and three assists to help the Panthers pick up a win over the Jaguars on senior night.

Carly Benzekri and Saige Devins had three goals and an assist apiece while Karina O’Donnell also had three goals and Addie Borden scored twice.

Lilee Petricca finished with eight saves for South (9-4) while Nevaeh Eppolitto, Lexi McGuire, Karina Santana, Lily Stutz and Nitzann Alkalay played well defensively.

No. 3 Winnacunnet 16, Merrimack Valley 5

The Warriors got four goals from McKinley Fowler, as they cruised to a win over the Pride.

Annika Jacques and Elle Emery had three goals apiece and Sky Mace had a goal and four assists for Winnacunnet (9-1). Emmy Granger added two goals and an assist and Sarah Rademacher had a goal and two assists.

Reese Gandt also had two goals and eight draw controls and Madison Brunelle finished with six saves.

Derryfield 13, Pembroke 3

Maddy Paolino had four goals and Alex Benson three to lead the Cougars to a win over the Spartans.

Chloe Bremberg and Finley Llewellyn had two goals and two assists apiece and Chloe Larson added a goal and an assist. Teagan Peabody also scored and Kelsi Bremberg had an assist.

Bri Murray had three draw controls while Lily Kfoury and Sadie Walsh combined for four saves for Derryfield (7-3).

Pembroke got two goals from Laila Al-Shawafi and a goal and an assist from Bailey Gatchell. Olivia Bryson and Giannah Michelson played well defensively for the Spartans.

Timberlane 16, Goffstown 9

Julia Johnson scored six goals, had an assist and three draw controls as the Owls rolled to a win against the Grizzlies.

Aubrey Fitzgerald and Ella Lampron added two goals and an assist apiece while Fitzgerald had two groundballs and Lampron had two groundballs, two caused turnovers and 12 draw controls.

Ella Watts and Lulu Trasatti also had two goals apiece and Ava Paul had a goal and an assist. Ava Stewart had three caused turnovers and three groundballs and Emma Norcott had two caused turnovers while Kayla Apitz made five saves.

Mia Morrier and Tatenda Chanakira also played well defensively for Timberlane (5-5).

Goffstown got five goals and an assist from Peyton Duff while Trinity Lunn had two goals and two assists and McKenna Kelly made nine saves.

Ella Coletti and Sydney Lavoie added a goal apiece while Coletti also had five draw controls and five groundballs and Lavoie had three draw controls and three groundballs. Neave Revaz added five draw controls and four groundballs.

Salem 15, Nashua North 6

Katie Wood had six goals to lead the Blue Devils in a win over the Titans.

Emily Young added three goals and Lily Burke chipped in with two for Salem while Grace Hoover, Nicole Ringdahl, Lily George and Morgann Raskow had a goal apiece.

Olivia Schoenrock made 12 saves for the Blue Devils.

Bow 13, Coe-Brown 8

The Bears kept the game close, but the Falcons were able to pull away in the fourth quarter for the win.

Lillian Peabody, Carolyn Clawson and Avery Keefe each had two goals for Coe-Brown (3-5). Ellie Escabi and Brooke Kozlowski had a goal apiece while Alexis Muse finished with 14 saves and Amirah Rhofiry blocked three shots.

Ella Gray led Bow with six goals and an assist and Kate McGovern had three goals and an assist.

Hollis Brookline 20, Spaulding 3

The Red Raiders fell on the road to the Cavaliers, getting two goals from Rachel Baughman and one goal from Sarah Lin.

No. 6 Portsmouth 14, Alvirne 4

Masi Shone and Reilly Collins each had two goals and an assist to lead the Clippers to the win over the Broncos.

Cortland Barr had a goal and two assists while Gus Baker and Henry Purcell each had a goal and an assist. Sam Biddle scored and was 10 of 12 on faceoffs while Miles Parker and Henry Dorley each scored their first varsity goals.

Josh Cole and Brendan Pavlas also had a goal apiece for Portsmouth (8-4) while Caden Callahan was 6 for 10 on faceoffs. Nate Weavers and AJ Craig combined for six saves in goal and Luke Brandt and Max Russman played well defensively.

Bishop Brady 7, Kennett 4

Joey Richardson had four goals and an assist to help the Giants improve to 5-2 with a win over the Eagles.

Drake Bekar added two goals and an assist and Anthony Dow had a goal and an assist for Bishop Brady.

Laconia 14, Trinity 9

Brady Stevens had six goals and two assists to lead the Sachems to the win over the Pioneers.

Paul Ganchi also had four goals and an assist and Eli Nadeau scored three times and recorded an assist for Laconia (6-3).

Rock Londer chipped in with a goal and an assist while Will Stafford had a great game facing off and Yuri Luis played well defensively.

Bow 15, Milford 0

Brad Ekstrom earned the shutout in goal as the Falcons cruised to a win over the Spartans.

Niko Mallios had four goals and two assists to pace Bow (8-1) while Kian O’Leary had a goal and two assists and Wyatt Premo scored twice.

Sam Bennett, Brendan O’Keeffe and Devon St. Cyr had a goal and an assist each while Parker Kazanowki, Keenan Hubbard and Harrison Fournior added a goal apiece.

No. 9 Londonderry 13, Dover 12

Seven players scored goals as the Lancers pulled out a close win over the Green Wave.

Colby Walden (one assist) and Trey Campbell each had three goals to lead Londonderry (6-4) while Owen Huard and Brody Campbell had two goals apiece.

Odin Delorey had a goal and two assists while Parker Lewis and Kody Playdon had a goal apiece. Blake Thompson recorded three assists and Tyler Knapp and Cam Ayotte each had an assist.

Ayotte also had two blocked shots late in the game to help preserve the lead and added three caused turnovers and three groundballs. Andrew Cote and Graeme Cunningham also played well defensively and Broch St. Gelais made seven saves.

Tobey Desroches had seven goals and an assist for Dover (6-7) while Cooper Ketcham had three goals and an assist. Logan Carter added a goal and three assists and Parker Ketcham had a goal and two assists.

Ben Tower dished out two assists while Danny Bretz made nine saves and Owen Wood won 60 percent of his faceoffs.

No. 2 Bedford 11, No. 4 Exeter 6

The Bulldogs trailed in the third quarter but ended the game on a 7-0 run to get the win over the Blue Hawks.

Evan Capello and Bennett Matthews each had three goals and an assist and Brody Helton also scored three times. Luke Purnell added a goal and an assist while John Purnell also had a goal.

Jacoby DeJesus and Cam Santos had an assist apiece while Ethan Conn made 11 saves for Bedford (8-4).

Exeter (8-5) got two goals from Tyler Bland while Jackson Greene, Pat Hathaway and Graham Knight had a goal apiece. Will McIlroy was 12 of 18 on faceoffs.

Hollis Brookline 13, Spaulding 3

Noah Taylor had four goals and two assists, including the 100th point of his career, as the Cavaliers grabbed a win over the Red Raiders.

Bennett Torgersen had five goals and JP Torgersen had three goals for HB while Mike O’ Hearn, Colin Magnuszewski and Vittorio Masoni all had two points. Olivier Spender and Luke Kinney each had an assist.

Patrick Masoni played well defensively and Levi Mitchell made three saves.

No. 10 Timberlane 10, Goffstown 8

Landon Petry scored five goals to help the Owls get the win over the Grizzlies.

Rocco Psareas added two goals and two assists while Gio Recesso also scored twice and had a helper. Dylan Lindblad scored a goal and Joseph Hughes made 19 saves for Timberlane (8-2).

Pelham 15, Gilford 12

Jake Suliveras had five goals and an assist to go with three groundballs as the Pythons got the win over the Golden Eagles.

Mason Frechette (one assist) and Aidan Cote (two groundballs) added three goals apiece while Chris Swiniarski and Noah Johnson had a goal and an assist apiece for Pelham (6-3).

Matthew Sprague had two goals, five groundballs and was 25 of 29 on faceoffs while Ben Howe had a goal and three groundballs and Mark Waden had an assist and three groundballs. Jacoby Lee finished with 16 saves.

Boys Volleyball

Hollis Brookline 3, Keene 1

Ethan Norris had a night to remember for the Cavaliers, as they knocked off the Blackbirds. Game scores were 25-18, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-19.

Norris had 31 kills, 13 digs, 12 service points and three aces, and he now has over 500 career kills to go with 500 digs and 1,000 assists, which puts the senior among the top performers in state history.

Matteo Morel added 17 service points and four kills and Alex Howe also had seven kills. Sam Hersey and Zac Wu combined for 45 assists.
