Around the Granite State: Oyster River girls basketball holds off Kearsarge

Ashling Ferris hit two free throws late to help the Oyster River High School girls basketball team pull out a 40-37 win Friday over Kearsarge in the Oyster River Holiday Tournament.

Ferris and Olivia Andersen each finished with 14 points and Viv O’Quinn added eight points for the Bobcats. Ferris also grabbed a late rebound to hang on for the win.

Jazzy Alvarez and Wren Horne also played well in the win.

Oyster River opened the tournament Thursday with a 66-29 win over Newmarket, getting 23 points from Horne. O’Quinn added 15 points and 11 assists while Andersen had 13 points.

Dover 48, Spaulding 23

Lilly Nosiff had 11 points to help the Green Wave pull away for a win over the Red Raiders at the Oyster River Holiday Tournament.

Hannah Pellman added 10 points for Dover and Violet Burt had eight markers in the win. The Green Wave led 23-16 going into the fourth quarter before extending the lead.

Meagan Uraskevich had 11 points to lead Spaulding while Ava Damon had five points.

Exeter 54, Salem 40

Anna McGuiness and Lexy Rogers each scored in double figures to help lead the Blue Hawks past the Blue Devils at the Derryfield Holiday Tournament.

McGuiness had 13 points and Rogers had 11 markers, as they each hit one of Exeter’s five 3-pointers. Emma Gillis and Emme Kayes added nine points apiece.

Salem got eight points from Lindsay Goetz while Lily George, Makayla Burns and Ella Mosto each had six points.

Trinity 43, Souhegan 28

The Sabers cut the Pioneers’ lead to five points late in the third quarter, but couldn’t get closer at the Doug Chandler Holiday Basketball Tournament.

Julia Skelton had nine points and Phoebe Faucer added six points for Souhegan, which was down three starters.

Trinity got 14 points from Sadie Mungere.

Londonderry Holiday Tournament Results

• Bishop Feehan 68, Pinkerton 49: Kaylee Dupuis led the Astros with 21 points in the loss.
• Londonderry 49, Barrington 31: Sammie Sullivan scored 16 points and Gemma Murray and Brooke Eacrett had 13 points apiece for the Lancers.
• Bedford 49, LaSalle Academy 22: Annie Zink had 12 points for the Bulldogs and Kate Allard chipped in with 11.

Boys Ice Hockey

Keene 12, Trumbull (Conn.) 2

The Blackbirds scored for goals in each period and outshot the Eagles 40-15 to get a win in the Heuchling and Swift Memorial Classic at UNH.

Evan Ahnert and Ethan Ahnert each had two goals and two assists while Chris Turman had a goal and three assists. Nick Dunnell had a goal and two assists, as did Taylor Miller and Owen Watkins.

Gunner Galland also had two helpers and Landon Clace had a goal and an assist. Grady Erickson had a goal and Tobin McDermott and Donovan Ladzinski each scored their first varsity goals.

Camden Thompson, Aidrix Abrams and Reid Boyd-Tucker each had an assist for their first varsity point and Rafahl Podniesinski made his first varsity start in goal.
