Around the Granite State: Oyster River-Newmarket girls lacrosse knocks out Hollis Brookline
Here are results from Tuesday’s high school girls lacrosse playoff games.
Grace Royal had seven goals and an assist to lead the Oyster River-Newmarket girls lacrosse team to a 16-12 win Tuesday over Hollis Brookline in the Division II preliminary round.
The 10th-seeded Bobcats (8-8) also got three goals from Adeline Dubois while Emy Przybylski and Keira Ferris had two goals and an assist apiece. Kira Jakobs had a goal and an assist and Hannah Dunbar also scored.
Eliza Farwell finished with 11 saves.
The Cavaliers (10-7), the defending D2 champions who came in as the seventh seed, got seven goals from Cailean Roy. Sabrina Hill added two goals and an assist while Julette Ogren had a goal and an assist.
Samantha Smith and Blake Curley also had a goal apiece and Addison Dougherty finished with sevens saves.
Oyster River-Newmarket moves on to face No. 2 Windham (15-2) at 5 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinals.
No. 6 John Stark/Hillsboro-Deering 12, No. 11 Kingswood 5
Zoe Lawson had a great all-around performance to help lead the General Cats (10-5) to a win over the Knights (5-10).
Lawson finished with three goals, an assist and seven draw controls while Elizabeth Hatfield had three goals, one assist and four draw controls and Ryan Mucci had two goals, one assist and four draw controls.
Melody Couturier had two goals and an assist and Kaycie Rhodes also scored twice while Addie Decaw had a goal for JSHD.
Ava Waldron led Kingswood with two goals while Avery Gilpatrick, Lillian Davenhill and Lindsay Lapierre had a goal apiece.
The General Cats move on to Thursday’s quarterfinals, where they will face No. 3 Timberlane (13-3).
No. 8 Goffstown 15, No. 9 Kennett 2
The Grizzlies (12-7) avenged an earlier loss to the Eagles (8-7) with a convincing playoff win.
Eva de Matteis led the way for Goffstown, getting seven goals and an assist from the senior. Mi Brisette added three scores while Trinity Lunn and Ella Colletti had a goal and an assist apiece.
Morghan Dodge, Evie Eaton and Stella Enman also added a goal each in the win.
Goffstown advances to the quarterfinals, where it will take on No. 1 Winnacunnet (17-1) on Thursday.
No. 5 Merrimack Valley 14, No. 12 Manchester Central 4
Alyssa Brodeur had five goals, including the 100th of her career, to go with an assist to lead the Pride past the Little Green.
Ella Frink scored twice and had an assist and Abbey Thompson also had two goals for Merrimack Valley (11-4). Sydney Bailey had a goal and an assist while Kaiya Mercier, Grace Thompson and Ashlyn Fortier had a goal apiece.
Lilly Jones recorded an assist and Taylor Gionet finished with six saves.
Merrimack Valley moves on to face No. 4 Hanover (11-4) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Division III Preliminary Round
No. 6 Pelham 16, No. 11 Kearsarge 4
The Pythons (11-4) got seven goals from Ella DeSimmone and held the Cougars (4-11) scoreless for almost three quarters to get the win.
Sophia Joncas and Kate Burke each had three goals while Katherin Carroll had two goals and Jillian LeBlanc also scored.
Addie Breault (11 saves) and Emma Bowlen (three saves) split time in goal to get the win.
Pelham advances to the quarterfinals on Thursday, where it will face No. 3 Gilford (12-2).
No. 7 Lebanon 20, No. 10 Trinity 10
Maddie Jewell had five goals and two assist to help lead the Raiders (10-5) ti a win over the Pioneers (7-9).
Norah Burns added two goals, two assists and four draw controls while Biff Maher had two goals and five draw controls. Audrey Newton (one assist), Lindsey Stark and Angelina MacDonald also scored two goals apiece while Abby Auch had a goal and two assists.
Sara Forman had a goal, an assist and six draw controls and Abby Ripley had a goal and an assist. Savannah Lindlsey and Tori Palys also scored and Annie Hannah had an assist.
Drew Kantoer led a strong defensive effort with 10 saves.
Lebanon moves on to face No. 2 Bow (15-2) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
