Around the Granite State: Pinkerton boys lacrosse suffers 1st loss to Billerica (video)

DERRY – The Pinkerton Academy boys lacrosse team got goals from six players Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough in a 10-7 loss to Billerica (Mass.).

Matt Gormady scored twice while Levi Weaver had a goal and three assists and Jackson Farrell added a goal and two assists for the Astros (4-1, No. 2 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll).

Cade Johnston, Tyler Pinardi and Tyler Barry also had a goal apiece while Ryan Mewes and Ryson Michaud each had an assist.

Owen Perkins led the defense, recording 10 saves, while Brendan Carney had four groundballs and three caused turnovers. Nate Smith added three caused turnovers and Caleb Hobden had three groundballs.

The Indians (8-2) got five goals and an assist from Kameron Tremblay and four goals from Daniel Venezia.

No. 5 Portsmouth 7, No. 6 Derryfield 6

Trevor Sifferlen scored with 1:08 remaining to give the Clippers a road win over the Cougars.

Sifferlen finished with four goals for Portsmouth (5-0) while Jack Martin, Gus Baker and Nash Conklin added a goal apiece. Cortland Barr and Max Deneen each had an assist and AJ Craig made 11 saves.

Dom Cercone had two goals and an assist for Derryfield (3-1) while Ryan Maxwell, Vittorio Masoni, Jackson Hatfield and Emerson Stover also scored. Liam England finished with eight saves.

No. 7 Winnacunnet 11, No. 9 Dover 8

Spencer Zigler and Brian McCown each had four goals and an assist to lead the Warriors past the Green Wave.

Alec Mitchell added two goals and an assist and was 15 of 18 on faceoffs while Beckett Rath also had a goal for Winnacunnet (4-1 in D2). Joel Williams recorded 15 saves.

Parker Ketcham had two goals and an assist for Dover (3-2 in D1) while Logan Carter and Finn Joyce each added two goals. Porter Gray and Geffin Adorian had a goal and an assist each and Cooper Ketcham had two assists.

Nashua South 13, Hollis Brookline 1

Owen Roy scored six goals to help the Panthers roll to a win over the Cavaliers

Cody Jackson had four goals and two assists and Max Signoroni scored twice and had two assists for South (2-3). Tyler Benzekri had a goal and an assist while Grant Imbeault had four assists and Brendan Skelley had two helpers.

Nashua North 20, Salem 13

Nico Bottari had five goals and Dylan Noble added four goals to lead the Titans to their first win agains the Blue Devils.

Gavin Dugan and Nick Wilkinson scored three goals apiece and Josh Parsons finished with 13 saves.

Souhegan 16, Pembroke 6

The Sabers got a combined 10 goals from Nate Hill and Jud Harris in a win over the Spartas.

Hill had five goals and three assists and Harris added five goals and two assists for Souhegan (2-2). Mason Mobley had two goals and two assists while Collin Yeaton add two goals and an assist and Sean Reardon made seven saves.

Pembroke (0-4) got three goals and an assist from Will Chabot while Chase Boggs scored twice.

Bow 10, John Stark 6

Niko Mallios and Sam Bennett each had three goals and two assists to help the Falcons get past the Generals.

Wyatt Premo added two goals and an assist while Cam Czarnosz (one assist) and TJ Ingalls had a goal apiece for Bow (4-0). Benny Reardon had 11 groundballs and five caused turnovers while Miles Miller was 15 of 19 on faceoffs.

Parker Hamel played well for John Stark (1-3), recording 19 saves. Cooper Twombley had a goal and two assists along with six groundballs, while Lyncoln Jablonski also scored twice.

ConVal 9, Gilford 7

The Golden Eagles had a 5-4 lead at halftime, but couldn’t hang on against the Cougars.

Lucas Raleigh had three goals and two assists for Gilford (2-2) while Christien Nunez added two goals. Colin Corcoran had six groundballs and four caused turnovers while Kael Weber had five groundballs and four caused turnovers.

Girls Lacrosse

Timberlane 13, No. 9 Merrimack 10

Rylee Donahue had three goals and four assists as the Owls won a battle of unbeatens with the Tomahawks.

Lila Fitzgerald added four goals and Julia Johnson scored three goals for Timberlane (5-0) and Aubrey Fitzgerald had a goal and two assists. Donahue also had seven draw controls and three caused turnovers and Johnson also had two draw controls.

Kasey Fitzgerald, Elle Sarcione and Mia Morrier played well defensively and Kayla Apitz recorded four saves.

Merrimack (4-1) got five goals and three assists from Jackie Hayes and four goals and two assists from Riley Taylor. Lyla Carls also scored a goal and had an assist and Liv Mitchell also recorded an assist.

Sophia Richard finished with two saves while Taylor had nine draw controls.

No. 4 Exeter 12, No. 7 Londonderry 11 (OT)

Riley Benevedies had six goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as the Blue Hawks knocked off the Lancers.

Phoebe Christenson added four goals for Exeter (4-1) and Claire Wilhelm had a goal and an assist. Addy Gwinn also scored and Molly Byrne had six saves.

Londonderry (3-2) got three goals from Summer Butler while Lexi Padykula and Eres Delorey each had two goals and two assists. Addie Doyle, Core Rogers, Annabella Melia and Lilly Ciarametaro added a goal apiece.

Abby Cook finished with nine saves and Delorey had 11 draw controls for the Lancers.

John Stark 21, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough 5

Claudia Dustin scored eight goals and had three assists to help lead the Generals past the Lakers.

Addie DeCew scored four goals and had five assists while Zoe Lawson also had four goals and Aislyn Smith had three goals and two assists. Hannah Perkins and Addy Brunini also had a goal apiece for John Stark (2-1).

Goffstown 13, Oyster River-Newmarket 8

Trinity Lunn and Sydney Lavoie each had three goals and three assists for the Grizzlies in their win over the Bobcats.

Mia Brisette also had three goals and recorded eight draw controls for Goffstown (2-2) while Ella Coletti had two goals, one assist and five draw controls. Lilli Connor had a goal and an assist and Paige Winters also scored.

Thea Soucy and Jenna Shannon played well defensively, with each causing four turnovers.

Pembroke 12, Belmont 10

The Spartans got out to a big lead in the first hald and held on to pick up their first win of the season by getting past the Red Raiders.

Lily Ricci led Pembroke (1-3) with four goals and an assist while Laila Al-Shawafi scored four goals. Paige Bemis added two goals and an assist and Faith Young finished with six saves.

Shelby Mason finished with 17 saves for Belmont (1-3) while Augusta Privencale, Grace Collins and Morgan Schofield played well on defense. Brooke Varnum scored a career-high six goals and Brooke Murphy added four goals for the Red Raiders.

No. 8 Nashua South 8, Windham 7 (5OT)

Carly Benzekri scored the game-winner in the fifth overtime to help the Panthers come back for a win against the Jaguars.

Benzekri had five goals and 15 draw controls while Lexi McGuire, Briley Landsteiner and Gemma Williams also had a goal apiece.

Emma Herlihy recorded sevens saves, including a couple in overtime, while Nicole DeJesus had three caused turnovers and Maddie Langer had two caused turnovers. Hailey Cote, Bella Hwalek and Nitzann Alkalay also played well defensively.

Coe-Brown 21, Kearsarge 5

The Bears overcame as low start to roll to a win over the Cougars.

Avery Keefe led the way with five goals and four assists to go with 11 draw controls and four groundballs while Brooke Kozlowski had two goals and two assists along with seven draw controls and four groundballs for Coe-Brown (5-1).

Morgan Readel also had a goal to go with five assists and seven groundballs and Ellie Escabi had three goals, two assists and six groundballs. Kendall Jackson added three goals, one assist and four groundballs.

Natalie George had a goal and an assist with two caused turnovers and five groundballs while Maggie Cardillo had two goals, two interceptions and five groundballs. Ady Moynihan and Kenzie Silva played well defensively and Hailey Smith was solid in goal.

Kearsarge (1-3) got three goals from Siena Loomis and two goals from Addyson Rossi. Madison Bennett recorded three assists and Sophia Paquette had two helpers.

Trinity 19, Bishop Brady 5

Sarah Bouchard scored her first varsity goal and the Pioneers picked up a win over the Giants.

Addison Moynihan scored six goals and had three assists while Lily Ferdinando and Sammy Raymond each had six goals for Trinity (4-1).

Boys Volleyball

Salem 3, Hollis Brookline 0

The Cavaliers fell at home to the Blue Devils. Game scores were 25-15, 25-20 and 25-23.

Jameson Evelyn had 10 kills to lead HB while Ben LeClerc had four kills and Zac Wu had 10 service points and 22 assists. Danigan Koenig and Liam Gagne were solid defensively.

Boys Tennis

Pinkerton 6, Nashua North 3

The Astros won four of six singles matches on the way to a win over the Titans.

Mason Treadwell got an 8-2 win over North’s Brady O’Connor at No. 1 singles while Michael Saab won 9-7 at No. 3 over Graham Gordon. Parker Kingsley (8-6) won at No. 4 against Addy Veerendra and Quintin Molony (8-3) defeated Ben Husson at No. 5.

Treadwell and Arav Mahajan teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-3, while Molony and Killian Mahan won at No. 3 doubles 8-5.

North got a win at No. 2 singles from Connor McInverness, 8-5, over Mahan while Connor Ducey beat Elias Matlin, 9-7, at No. 6 singles.
