Around the Granite State: Pinkerton field hockey beats Bishop Guertin (video)
Here are results from Monday’s high school field hockey action.
NASHUA – Gwen Lee scored three goals and had an assist to help the Pinkerton Academy field hockey team to a 4-2 win Monday morning over Bishop Guertin.
Fran Doyle also had a goal for the Astros (11-4, No. 5 in the New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) and Jada Vasquez had an assist while Molly Kuncik had four saves.
Addison Daddona scored two goals on breakaways in the fourth quarter for the Cardinals (7-8) while Carly Green and Lola Dumont each had an assist.
Hopkinton 4, Newport 0
The Hawks picked up a road win with a shutout of the Tigers.
Ryan Barrett and Carlie Leino each had two goals to lead Hopkinton (12-1-1).
Berlin 2, Mascoma Valley 1
Makenna Houston scored early to give the Royals the lead, but the Mountaineers came back to get the win, scoring the game winner late in the fourth quarter.
Sam Harkins played well in goal for Mascoma Valley (10-3-1).
Olivia Richard tied the game for Berlin (12-1-1) in the final minute of the third quarter and Caitlin Kelley got the winning goal with 1:35 left.
Monadnock 1, Sanborn 0 (OT – Saturday)
Jillian Ellis scored the game’s only goal with 5:24 remaining in overtime to give the Huskies the win over the Indians.
Makayla Harwood finished with saves for Monadnock (4-8), who had 31 shots on goal and 16 penalty corners.
