Around the Granite State: Pinkerton girls basketball beats Portsmouth to stop skid

The Pinkerton Academy girls basketball team went on the road Friday and grabbed a 53-31 win over Portsmouth to stop a three-game losing streak.

Sydney Gerossie and Kaylee Dupuis each had 14 points, with Gerossie hitting two 3-pointers while Dupuis had three. Mia Marshall also hit three 3s for her nine points and Brooke Benz added eight points.

The Astros (12-5) led 26-14 at halftime and put the game away by outscoring the Clippers 22-4 in the third quarter.

Pinkerton will host Dover (12-5) at 4 p.m. Tuesday to finish the regular season.

Salem 66, Manchester Central-West 45

Lily George scored 33 points to lead the Blue Devils to their fourth win in the last five games.

George hit five of Salem’s eight 3-pointers while Ella Mosto added six points. Olivia DeFrancesco, Makayla Burns and Amelia Murray also hit a 3-pointer apiece.

Central-West got 14 points from Tianna Mann, including two 3s, while Leyla Mohamed finished with 10 points and Adrianna Perron had nine points on three 3s.

Salem (11-6) will go to Timberlane to close out the regular season at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Derryfield 59, Oyster River 55

The Bobcats had their seven-game win streak snapped despite coming back from 15 points down to make it a three-point game late.

Olivia Andersen led the way for Oyster River with 20 points while Wren Horne and Viv O’Quinn were each in double figures, with 14 points and 11 points, respectively.

Bishop Guertin 73, Timberlane 25

The Cardinals wrapped up the No. 4 seed in the Division I tournament with a win over the Owls in their regular-season finale.

Holly Dufoe led Bishop Guertin (14-4) with 19 points, including five 3-pointers, while Kayden Rioux was also in double figures with 12 points on four 3s. The Cardinals hit 13 shots from behind the arc as a team.

Timberlane (10-7) got 12 points on four 3s from Rylee Donahue while Sam Mooney added six points. The Owls will wrap up their regular season against Salem on Tuesday.

Kingswood 52, Souhegan 48

The Sabers had a 29-20 lead at halftime but were outscored 21-2 by the Knights in the third quarter. Souhegan was able to make it a three-point game with 18 seconds remaining, but ended up falling on the road to Kingswood.

Lanai Hickman led the Sabers (7-10 in D2) with 14 points and Caroline Drum was also in double figures with 10 points. Julia Skelton had eight of her nine points in the first quarter while Souhegan was battling foul trouble.

Despite the loss, the Sabers clinched a playoff spot and will finish the regular season Tuesday against ConVal.

Sanborn 51, Bishop Brady 46

The Indians ended a 14-game losing streak by picking up their second win of the season and knocking the Giants out of playoff contention, despite Bishop Brady rallying from a 19-points deficit.

Maya Thompson scored 19 points to lead Sanborn (2-14 in D2) and Maia Dow had 18 points to lead Bishop Brady (4-12).

Boys Basketball

Merrimack Valley 61, Hollis Brookline 57

The Pride picked up a big win on the road against the Cavaliers, closing the game on an 8-0 run.

Aiden Gray led Merrimack Valley with 25 points and Brady Smith added 11 markers in the win.

Windham 66, Nashua North 41

The Jaguars won for the sixth time in their last seven games by beating the Titans at home.

Jack Koutrobis and Sam Roidoulis each had 18 points to lead Windham (10-7 in D1) to the win. The Jaguars will host Alvirne (12-5) in the regular-season finale at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

D3 Quarterfinals: No. 1 Belmont 72, No. 8 Fall Mountain 50

The Red Raiders overcame a slow start to advance to the semifinals with a win over the Wildcats.

Treshawn Ray led Belmont with 18 points and Keegan Martinez added 15 markers. Anakin Underhill and Brady Thurber were also in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
