Around the Granite State: Portsmouth boys lacrosse gets win against Timberlane (video)

PORTSMOUTH – Ben Purcell had five goals to help lead the Portsmouth High School boys lacrosse team to an 11-3 win Monday night against Timberlane.

Henry Purcell added three goals for the Clippers (9-5, No. 6 in the MerchSquared.com/NHHSSports Coaches Poll) and Reilly Collins added a goal and two assists.

Beelen and Sawyer Bouvier had a goal and an assist apiece and Sam Biddle added two assists while helping Portsmouth win 12 of 18 faceoffs. Kai Paterson finished with eight saves, six in the third quarter.

Joseph Hughes came up big for the Owls (9-3, No. 10), finishing with 29 saves. Landon Petry had two goals for Timberlane while Rocco Psereas also scored.

Nashua North 11, Salem 8

The Titans picked up their first win of the season by knocking off the Blue Devils at home.

Dylan Noble scored five goals for North (1-13) while Nick Wilkinson and Nico Bottari had three goals apiece. Aiden Louis had an assist while Josh Parsons made 24 saves and had an assist.

No. 2 Bedford 16, No. 9 Merrimack 2

Bennett Matthews had four goals and four assists to help the Bulldogs to a win over the Tomahawks.

John Purnell also had four goals and Brody Helton had two goals and three assists for Bedford (10-4). Evan Capello added three goals while Luke Purnell and Parker Gupta had a goal and an assist apiece.

Sebastian Wright also scored for the Bulldogs while Ethan Conn made eight saves and Matt Benn had one. Dylan Riccio and Finn LaMarche combined to win 19 of 22 faceoffs.

Merrimack (9-6) got a goal apiece from Henry Tobin and Hudson Rousseau while Mason Tremblay had 12 saves.

No. 3 Pinkerton 17, Concord 1

Kyle Ushkevich had six goals and an assist for the Astros, as they rolled to a win over the Crimson Tide.

Matt Gormady had three goals and three assists and Jackson Farrell added two goals and two assists for Pinkerton (11-3).

Gavin Burwell finished 11 saves while Ronan Connors and Spencer Chalmers played well defensively and Dylan Stingel, Aiden Jones and Tyler Pinardi were solid on faceoffs.

No. 5 Derryfield 14, Hanover 2

RJ Proulx had five goals and three assists as the Cougars remained unbeaten with a win over the Bears.

Dom Cercone (two assists) and Emerson Stover (one) added three goals apiece for Derryfield (13-0) while Ryan Maxwell dished out four assists. Garrett Lande had two goals and two assists while Brady Doldo also scored and Heath Mueller had two assists.

Liam England made two saves and Jaxon DeYoung had four and Jackson Hatfield, Dylan Clyne and Awaab Mousa combined to win 16 of 19 faceoffs.

Hanover (4-6) got a goal each from Trevor Sanders and Sam Bagatell while JJ Bernstein had an assist. Henry Cotter finished with 13 saves.

Souhegan 12, Spaulding 1

The Sabers snapped a seven-game losing streak with a win over the Red Raiders.

Ayden McGrath and Nate Hill each had four goals and an assist for Souhegan (3-10). Brandon Silva added two goals and an assist and Matt Mullin had a goal and two assists in the win.

Spaulding to a goal from Brody Baker and 16 saves from Dylan Gravalese.

Bow 11, Laconia 2

Niko Mallios scored four goals and had two assists to lead the Falcons to a win over the Sachems.

Kian O’Leary had three goals and three assists for Bow (9-1) while Brad Ekstrom had 14 saves, holding Laconia scoreless in the second half.

Milford 10, Stevens 2

Dylan McLeod had four goals and an assist to help the Spartans to their first win of the season.

Mitch Broadhurst added two goals and Tyler Noble also scored while Cam Callahan, Eben Barb and Max Hammerstrom each scored their first varsity goal.

Braeden Orlen and Chris Quezada each had an assist for Milford while Hammerstrom and Justin McCormick combined for 13 faceoff wins. Rocco Bartling finished with eight saves.

No. 8 Londonderry 12, Nashua South 2

Colby Walden had three goals and five assists for the Lancers as they picked up a win over the Panthers.

Owen Huard and Trey Campbell each had two goals and Blake Thompson and Brody Campbell had a goal and an assist apiece. Odin Delorey, Parker Lewis and Aidan Stowell added a goal each for Londonderry (9-4).

Connor Woodward (five groundballs) and Kyle Woodward chipped in an assist apiece and Cam Ayotte had nine groundballs and four caused turnovers. Broch St. Gelais finished with nine saves in the win.

Merrimack Valley 16, Alvirne 3

Tyler Carter had five goals, two assists and six groundballs to lead the Pride past the Broncos.

Matt Lauren added three goals and three assists and Mike Heine had two goals, two assists and 11 groundballs for Merrimack Valley. Ryan Monaghan and Conner Hanson each added two goals and Jake Demers also scored.

Carter Lankhorst won 14 faceoffs and scored his first varsity goal while Mike Kingsbury made 18 saves.

Girls Lacrosse

No. 9 Nashua South 16, Londonderry 11

Maren Lowell had eight goals and an assist to lead the Panthers to a win over the Lancers.

Addie Borden added three goals and Saige Devins and Carly Benzekri had two goals and an assist apiece for South (11-4). Karina O’Donnell also had a goal and an assist and Wylie Hart added an assist.

Lilee Petricca made five saves for the Panthers while Maddie Langer, Karina Santana, Nevaeh Eppolitto, Lexi McGuire and Nitzann Alkalay. played well defensively.

No. 3 Exeter 19, Manchester Central-West 7

The Blue Hawks jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a win over Central-West.

Phoebe Chistenson had five goals and two assists and Hailey O’Kane scored three goals for Exeter (12-3). Josie Dunsic had two goals and two assists and Grace McIlroy had two goals and one assist while Karli Scherpf, Kate Hyles and Riley Benevides added two goals apiece.

Racquel Battle had a goal and Josephine Vadala and Sophia Wilhelm each had an assist. Molly Byrne made three saves and Vivienne Authement also had three saves.

No. 6 Souhegan 18, Windham 12

Libby Kennedy scored six goals to with an assist and nine draw controls to lead the Sabers past the Jaguars.

Averie Curran added four goals, two assists and three groundballs and Emmie Curran had three goals, four groundballs and four draw controls for Souhegan (7-3). Lanai Hickman (three groundballs) and Izzy Stevenson (two groundballs, four draw controls) each had two goals and an assist.

Abby Giannetti also scored and had two groundballs while Emma Crisman made five saves. Marley Bacon, Eva Stiles, Sophie Jacobs, Natalie Heimarck and Madison Behn also played well for the Sabers.

No. 5 Winnacunnet 13, Hollis Brookline 4

Elle Emery had five goals and two assists to lead the Warriors to their 10th win in a row.

McKinley Fowler added three goals and an assist and Sky Mace had a goal and three assists. Ari Rizzo scored twice for Winnacunnet (11-1) while Annika Jacques and Emily Arlington each had a goal.

Madison Brunelle had five saves for the Warriors.

Goffstown 13, Manchester Memorial 7

Paige Winters and Peyton Duff each had three goals as the Grizzlies got a road win over the Crusaders.

Trinity Lunn had a goal and three assists and Morghan Dodge scored twice for Goffstown while Ella Coletti added a goal and an assist.

Stella Enman, Emma Bird and Lili Connor had a goal apiece and Sydney Lavoie added an assist.

Coe-Brown 26, Milford 3

Eleven players had a goal for the Bears in their road win over the Spartans.

Ady Moynihan had five goals and three assists and Addie Roy had seven assists to lead Coe-Brown. Avery Keefe and Ellie Escabi had three goals and an assist apiece while Rose Bean and Carolyn Clawson had three goals apiece.

Lillian Peabody had a two goals and an assist and Alexis Thomas had a goal and two assists. Brooke Kozlowski and Morgan Readel each scored twice and Molly Skahan had a goal and an assist. McKenzie Silva also played well for the Bears.

Milford got goals from Payton Gaj, Olivia Lockheed and Maya Renella.

No. 2 Pinkerton 17, Concord 2

Francesca Doyle scored five goals and added two assists to help the Astros get a win over the Crimson Tide.

Delaney Summers recorded three goals and three assists and Hannah Lisauskas had three goals and two assists for Pinkerton (12-3). Sookie Folson had two goals and an assist and Ava Micheline also scored twice.

Anna Perkins and Rylee Robinson had a goal and an assist apiece while Sara DiClemente and Madison Kavecki each had a save.

No. 10 St. Thomas 20, Concord Christian 6

Charlotte De Tolla led the way with six goals as the Saints cruised to a win over the Kingsmen.

Kensley Harris added four goals, including the 100th of her high school career, while Izzy Taylor and Lizzy Holden had three goals apiece for St. Thomas (10-1).

Julia Bryan, Ava Lyder, Lucy Brook and Annita Parmalee each had a goal for the Saint. Lyder and Lena Shaheen played well defensively and Chloe Baker made sevens saves.

Kennett 15, Spaulding 4

Sarah Lin had two goals for the Red Raiders in a loss to the Eagles.

Rachel Baughman and Payton Boumel had a goal apiece while Izzy Orrell made 10 saves.

Merrimack Valley 13, Alvirne 3

Cadence Bice, Audrienna Chipperini and Reese Durkee each had a goal for the Broncos.

Fiona Duggan finished with eight saves for Alvirne.

Timberlane 18, Keene-Monadnock 3

Eight players had at least a goal for the Owls, as they rolled past the Blackbirds.

Aubrey Fitzgerald led the way with four goals while Ella Watts and Lulu Trasatti (two draw controls) each had three goals and an assist. Alexa Ring and Julia Johnson had two goals apiece, while Johnson also had three caused turnovers and two draw controls.

Ava Paul added a goal and two assists and Mia Morrier had a goal, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Ava Stewart also scored while Kayla Apitz finished with eight saves and Emma Norcott, Tatenda Chanakira and Sophie Doherty played well defensively.

Pelham 10, Bishop Brady 7

Ella Desimone had six goals to lead the Pythons past the Giants.

Jessica Phillips added three goals and Katherine Carroll also scored for Pelham. Makenzie Comtois had an assist and Addison Breault made nine saves.

Derryfield 15, Laconia 7

Alex Benson had six goals and an assist for the Cougars in a road win over the Sachems.

Chloe Bremberg also had four goals and two assists and Maddy Paolino added three goals and two assists for Derryfield (8-3). Finley Llewellyn scored twice and Kelsi Bremberg and Charlotte Belanger had an assist apiece.

Teagan Peabody added six groundballs while Bri Murray had five groundballs and two draw controls. Chloe Larson had two groundballs while Lily Kfoury made seven saves in the first half and Sadie Walsh had three in the second half.
