Around the Granite State: Portsmouth field hockey gets first win of the season
Here are high school field hockey results from Monday’s action.
Sophia Klanchesser scored the game’s only goal in the first quarter and the Portsmouth High School field hockey team held on for a 1-0 win Monday over Timberlane.
Scout McNally recorded an assist on the goal for the Clippers (1-14), who picked up their first win after moving up to Division I before this season.
Reese McCauley finished with 14 saves while Sophie Berlin and Rowan McNally played well defensively for Portsmouth.
No. 4 Bedford 2, Londonderry 1 (OT)
Maddie Kiely scored twice for the Bulldogs, including the game-winner in overtime, to beat the Lancers.
Teagan O’Donnell assisted on both goals for Bedford (11-3-1).
Londonderry (5-9) got a goal from Sienna Schulz while goalie Molly Tharington played well.
No. 1 Keene 8, Manchester Memorial-Central 0
McKenna Nelson scored four goals to lead the Blackbirds to the win over Manchester.
Lily Rowell and Dayna English combined for the shutout in goal for Keene (14-0-1) while Sofia Miller, Avery Allaire, Cece Walier, Sarah Weber, Maya Stebbins and Andy Ahlquist played well for the Blackbirds.
No. 8 Winnacunnet 1, No. 5 Concord o (OT)
Reese Gandt scored the game-winner in overtime as the Warriors knocked off the Crimson Tide.
Fiona McAfee assisted on the goal for Winnacunnet (11-3-1).
Franklin 1, Monadnock 0
Abby Pitman scored in the final minute of the first quarter and the Golden Tornadoes held on to beat the Huskies on Friday.
Each team had nine penalty corners and five shots on goal and they’ll play again on Tuesday at Monadnock.
